Denim lovers often dislike washing their denim because they don't want to lose the original color and maintain its crispness. Denim Wash is a neutral detergent blended with starch, which effectively removes sweat, oil, and other stains while preserving the denim's shape and maintaining its original texture. The starch helps to fix the denim and also helps prevent indigo color fading.

While it prevents the most difficult thing to do with water washing—the fading of indigo—water washing also thoroughly removes sweat, dust, and other substances that cause unpleasant denim odors.

[Things you will need]
■Jeans to be washed ■Water (approximately 2 liters)
■ Wash tub (bucket)
■Two pants (skirt) hangers □Detergent to use: Denim Wash Unscented (laundry detergent for denim) 2cc (*Scheduled to be sold at the Isetan online store in the future.)

▶Step 1: Prepare the washing solution. Add 1/1000th (2cc) of detergent to approximately 2 liters of water and stir well.

Use 2cc of detergent for approximately 2 liters of water. Washing with "Denim Wash" from the time of purchase will allow the starch to build up in the fabric, making it less likely for the indigo color to fade.

▶Step 2: Press and wash the denim so that it is fully submerged in the washing solution.

After thoroughly mixing the water and detergent, turn the jeans inside out to avoid color fading or damage from friction on the outer fabric, and then soak them in the water.
Wash by hand for 3 to 5 minutes, and the dirt will start to come out in about 1 minute. When the water gradually changes color to yellow or black, it's a sign that the dirt has been removed.
*If the stains are severe, prepare a new batch of the washing solution from step ① and repeat the same process once more.

▶Step 3: Spin dry in the washing machine for about 1 minute.

Put the jeans directly into the washing machine and spin-dry for about 1 minute. Be careful not to spin-dry for too long, as this may cause the fabric to twist or change in texture.

▶Step 4: Rinse with clean water.

To rinse off any excess detergent, fill the wash tub with fresh water and rinse while pressing down.

▶Step 5: Spin dry again in the washing machine and then air dry in the shade.

Using the same method as in step ③, spin-dry again in the washing machine for about 1 minute, then reshape and hang to dry.
When drying jeans, the seams shrink, so be sure to stretch the selvedge well. Dry them in the shade; direct sunlight on indigo is strictly prohibited!
Another tip for drying them is to use two trouser hangers to allow air to circulate, which will help them dry faster. Leaving them inside out will also help the areas with overlapping fabric, such as pockets, dry more quickly.
