I paired a classic coat, crafted with high-quality materials and tailored to perfection, with an equally classic check pattern. While I would normally choose a scarf in a similar color scheme, I opted for a gray and yellow combination to add a touch of playfulness.

This Joshua Ellis cashmere scarf has just the right amount of firmness without being too flimsy, and it has a presence that doesn't get overshadowed by a coat made of a substantial material like the one I'm wearing today. Since it's a stand-collar coat, I simply wrapped it once around my neck to avoid adding too much volume. Because it's paired with a simple and classic coat design, I avoided any unusual wrapping style and tried to make it blend in as much as possible with the overall look.

When it comes to coats, I think how they look from behind is important, and this coat excels in that respect. When you hold it in your hands, you can feel its substantial weight, but when you put your arms through the sleeves, you'll be surprised at how light it feels, so I really want you to experience it for yourself.


I consciously coordinated the entire outfit with brown tones, including burgundy, to make the yellow color of the scarf stand out.
While coordinating with the same color is a good option, I'm currently in the mood to play with color a bit, especially with a scarf, which occupies a relatively small area of the outfit. I've added stability to my feet with grain leather and a chunky sole, balancing the slightly oversized coat with the slim-fitting slacks.

If I were to switch up my innerwear to something more casual and enjoy this winter, I'd like to go to an area with light hiking and hot springs, like Hakone. I'd like to stroll through the hot spring town and mountain trails, and soak my feet in a footbath along the way, to heal the fatigue of the past year and relax.
