2018.10.02 update

NAMACHEKO | Introducing the latest men's collection born from exceptional artistic sensibilities.

NAMACHEKO, a rising brand that has made a rapid ascent to the Paris runways in just over a year since its first collection, presents its 2018-19 Autumn/Winter collection, based on the theme of "BELONGING," showcasing an even more refined and expansive collection than the previous season. It will finally be appearing at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 2nd floor = International Creators.

This season, it will be sold at only 35 select stores worldwide.

Namacheko is a menswear brand founded in 2015 by siblings Dilan Lurr and Lezar Lurr, who were born in the Kurdish autonomous region of Iraq and raised in Sweden. The brand has its production base in Belgium. They were born Kurds in Kirkuk, north of Baghdad, and moved to Sweden with their parents when they were 8 and 4 years old, respectively.

The differences between the restrictive environment of Iraq, which values tradition, and the Swedish environment and culture, which emphasizes individual freedom and originality, brought about many multifaceted concepts as they grew up. "Duality" and "cultural identity" are expressed as a strong and unwavering core in Namacheko's work, embodied in simple yet original details.

With both Kurdish and Swedish identities at their core, they studied civil engineering related to infrastructure such as water supply and road construction during their student years, rather than fashion, and then taught themselves pattern making. Namacheko places emphasis on "classic tailoring, silhouette, and craftsmanship" as its design concept.

Namacheko's first collection presented in a show format.

Having studied architectural engineering, they chose Espace Niemeyer in Paris, a renowned historical building designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, as the venue for their 2018-19 Autumn/Winter collection. This building has a history of only allowing a select few fashion houses to hold their shows.

The first look of the collection features a Shetland wool pea coat, a signature coat that the designer himself had long envisioned. Isetan Men's will offer it in black. The wool material is sourced from Joshua Ellis, a British company founded in 1767 that is a long-established producer of cashmere and wool. Each button is carved from a deer antler, and these horn buttons, in three different shapes, are scattered throughout the collection as a key detail for this season.

Art that appears as an important source of inspiration

Art frequently appears as a very important source of inspiration within Namacheko, and in particular, the seasonal color palettes and new material suggestions are shaped each season's collection through the filter of art.

For this collection, we also tried creating new original fabrics, and in particular, the blue, green, and red fabrics made by a fabric manufacturer in the Loire Valley, France, are special and exclusively available to Namacheko, and are also used in the long vests sold at Isetan Men's.

Furthermore, while all previous Namacheko collections have used fabrics from Italian silk manufacturers to express the designer's feelings, this collection features fabrics inspired by motifs from modern American painters.

The eye-catching shirt and vest set is a tribute to their mother, a math teacher, created by the Lurr siblings after her passing. It is made from a silk-wool blend fabric and shell buttons.
