I've learned that a golf swing is all about "rhythm"!

—You really improved a lot during today's "9-hole private lesson." It was fun to watch.

Thank you, Yamauchi . I also enjoyed hitting the ball. I think I'm getting hooked.

--How was today's course?

Yamauchi: This morning, while I was getting ready for golf, my father asked me, "Which course are you playing today?" When I replied, "Kawagoe Country Club," he was surprised and said, "You're playing at a prestigious course that even I've never been to." It was hot, but there weren't too many ups and downs, so it was a nice course.

—Did you find the lesson helpful?

Yamauchi : It goes without saying, but if you just go golfing normally, nobody teaches you these things. Today, Mr. Kawakami taught me about different shots depending on the situation, the rules, and how to read the remaining yardage, which was very educational.
In particular, being able to repeatedly practice approach shots and bunker shots is amazing. I received focused instruction on those areas, and I felt a great sense of accomplishment because I saw results in my subsequent round of golf. It's really beneficial to be able to immediately put into practice what you've been taught on the spot.

—Above all, your swing had a fantastic sense of rhythm today.

On the third hole, the first hole I played , Mr. Kawakami told me to "try swinging with a 'back and through' rhythm," so I tried hitting it that way. Also, I noticed something when I looked at Mr. Ota's tee shot stance...

—What did you notice?

Yamauchi took several practice swings and, as he got into position to hit the ball, he could see his body becoming increasingly tense and stiff over time. So, he tried something: "Take two practice swings and then hit the ball with the same rhythm."
If you keep doing that, you'll be able to hit the ball with the same rhythm even when you change clubs, and the ball will fly straight forward!

—Your drives, fairway woods, and irons all flew really well. You even had some great bunker shots.

The Yamauchi ball flew really well, so I was able to stay focused and enjoy the round without getting tired. I feel like I can play golf with more enthusiasm now!
