Let's enjoy mixing and matching! Within the rules of authenticity, "the freedom of styling" is key.

Even though it's Shibata , the 7th floor will undoubtedly be based on the "10 essential items" that it has cherished up until now: a navy blazer, straight-leg jeans, a white oxford button-down shirt, beige chinos, a swing top, a gabardine trench coat, gray trousers, a heavy-ounce crew neck tee, a gray sweatshirt, and canvas sneakers.

Of Ota's 10 choices, the last three or so are Shibata's personal preferences (laughs). Based on the condition of authenticity and genuineness, the one thing that transcends countries and regions is "combining authentic things." After the Edo period ended, Japan adopted European culture and changed from traditional Japanese clothing to Western clothing, and after the war, American culture flooded in and had a great influence.
While Britain and Italy are unable to break away from their own traditions and cultures, the Japanese have no roots in Western clothing, so they can mix and match. That's something to enjoy to the fullest! For example, you can express yourself by combining authentic pieces, such as wearing a Neapolitan-style suit with a Brooks Brothers shirt.

The authentic items that Shibata proposes on the 7th floor can be broadly divided into two zones: the tried-and-true "Traditional" zone, which is based on essential items, and the "Modern Heritage" zone, which adds interesting elements that have roots in heritage while expressing a contemporary feel.
The new 7th floor is a space to express "how to break the rules within the framework of authenticity." So we want our customers to jump between these two zones and enjoy a wide range of mixed styles.

Next time, we'll explain how to enjoy mixed styles using the "navy blazer" as the theme from our "10 Essential Items" series.
