Hiroshi Wataya, 61 years old. His nickname is "The Painter." Since his debut as an illustrator in the magazine "POPEYE" in 1979, Mr. Wataya has continued to depict his love for fashion for 40 years. This time, at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 8th floor = Isetan Men's Residence, a book launch event will be held for "STYLE 1979-2018: I've Drawn Men's Fashion," a book commemorating 40 years of his artistic career, which will cover not only men's fashion, but also time with loved ones, happy family spaces, and his familiar reports.

On Sunday, June 3rd, artist Wataya will host a talk show with fashion historian Kaori Nakano as the navigator, featuring special guests with close ties to the artist, as well as Kazuo Ueda, the legendary bartender from Ginza's "TENDER." It will be a special opportunity to enjoy a Gimlet made by Mr. Ueda while discussing men's style.

Hiroshi Wataya is a leading illustrator of men's fashion in Japan. Even those who aren't particularly interested in fashion have probably seen his illustrations somewhere. His newly published book, "STYLE 1979-2018: I've Drawn Men's Fashion," is his first collection of works, marking 40 years since his debut.

Influenced by the golden age of American illustration in the 1950s, his works primarily focus on men's fashion, but also include many depictions of loving couples and happy family scenes, many of which are included in this book. On the other hand, his satirical cartoons and investigative reports, which he himself calls "silly touches," mainly drawn for men's fashion magazines, represent another side of the artist and have many fans.

In addition to its exquisite realism, the artist's detailed depictions of fashion and goods are backed by extensive knowledge, and his unparalleled sense of style and vibrant use of color are evident in every turn of the page.

Kaori Nakano
is a fashion historian and essayist who is active in research, writing, lecturing, and acting as a consulting instructor. She is the CEO of Kaori Nakano Co., Ltd. Her numerous books include "50 Masterpieces for Gentlemen" and "The Genealogy of Dandyism."

Kazuo Ueda
<br> The master of Ginza TENDER. He was featured in the American newspaper "The New York Times" as the inventor of the hard shaker, and gentlemen from all over the world gather to enjoy his drink.

Furthermore, the artist's work is admired by a wide range of people, not only in the fashion world but also in various other fields. Contributors to this book include actor Shosuke Tanihara, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko, pioneer of men's fashion illustration Kazuo Hozumi, fashion historian Kaori Nakano, and columnist Atsushi Ide, who has long collaborated with the artist on magazine serials. The book also features a long interview with the artist, covering his career from before his debut to the present, his hobbies and personal fashion, and his encouragement to aspiring men's fashion illustrators.
