The interview between Mr. Shimaji and Charles Schumann, which I introduced last month, has finally been published on "PEN Online".

Shimaji : "Just like with the Churchill film, I wrote liner notes for the Schumann film pamphlet. Schumann read those liner notes and said he wanted to meet me, so the conversation came to fruition."

Schumann was so moved after reading the liner notes that he exclaimed, "This is a love letter to me!"

Shimaji : "As soon as we met, we instantly became close, as if we'd just met again after 10 years. He's tall, friendly, and dapper. Even I, who's the same age, was jealous. There are some cool photos of him on Pen Online, so please check them out."

Katsuhiko Shimaji is the producer of the Isetan Men's Residence Salon de Shimaji, located on the 8th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . Born in 1941, he graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University and joined Shueisha. He was assigned to "Weekly Playboy" and became its editor-in-chief in 1983, where he created a sensation with the "Life Advice" column featuring Renzo Shibata, Toko Kon, and Ken Kaiko as respondents, growing the magazine into a million-copy publication. He later served as editor-in-chief of "PLAYBOY Japan" and "BART." After serving as the representative director of Shueisha International, he retired in 2008. He is currently a writer and essayist.
