The new trend in coats this year is "longer lengths."
Classic styles tend to evolve more slowly than street fashion or designer fashion. However, that pace is accelerating year by year, and in recent seasons, the changes have been visibly pronounced, such as the unstructured jackets and tapered pant silhouettes. Tomohiro Inaba, buyer of business clothing on the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , says:
"This year, we're seeing a change in coat silhouettes. This trend actually started about two years ago and was quite noticeable at Pitti Uomo (the world's largest menswear trade show), but this season it's being clearly presented as a trend."

The trends in coats are reflected not only in the specialization of models such as the stand-collar, trench, and Chesterfield styles, but also in the length of the coats. In particular, after a period in which the fitting was modified from a just-right fit to a slim and tight fit, in recent years we have also seen designs influenced by fashion and women's trends. In fashion and women's trends, oversized silhouettes and off-the-shoulder styles, which are worn somewhat loosely, are mainstream outerwear, and this trend is also being seen in men's wear.
"Specifically, the length of coats, which were previously mainly short, is now getting longer, reaching just below the knee. The shoulders are also slightly dropped, and relaxed silhouettes such as off-shoulder and drop-shoulder styles are appearing, and raglan sleeves and other features that give the appearance of dropped shoulders seem to be part of the trend. Many popular brands at ISETAN MEN'S are also releasing coats of this type," says Inaba.

Paidea Coat: 324,000 yen
*Scheduled to launch on Wednesday, September 19th.
Paidea's polo coat is an updated version of a polo coat pattern from the GFB factory used by the brand, with a slightly longer length. The lapel width has also been widened to improve the balance. Made from 100% cashmere melton, this luxurious garment is not a fleeting trend silhouette, but rather appears to have approached an authentic style.

TAGLIATORE coat: 113,400 yen
*Scheduled to launch on Wednesday, September 19th.
TAGLIATORE presents the Tyrolean coat. Said to be the precursor to the trench coat, it's a wrap-style coat that fastens only with a buckle belt and has no buttons on the front. However, its knee-length, raglan sleeves, and large, elegantly flared reefer collar give it a masculine impression. This model was created when owner Pino Lerario and ISETAN MEN'S were looking for a custom trench coat, and Pino came up with the idea to make it the Tyrolean coat.
Men's style has evolved from jackets to trousers, but with the emergence of new coats that impress with both silhouette and detail, this season has the potential for a major shift. Outerwear, which most significantly influences one's impression, is effective in showcasing the wearer's individuality and most dramatically manipulating how others perceive them. If you want to completely change your style, this autumn/winter is the perfect time. If you make a statement with your coat, you're sure to change how people perceive you.
