What was the inspiration behind starting the Yabe necktie brand, Spacca Neapolis?
Two years ago, Nicolas found some vintage silk fabric for ties at a second-hand clothing shop in his town and took it to a friend's workshop. When he uploaded pictures of the finished ties to his blog, he got a lot of "likes." His business started with a 50 euro investment and making eight ties.
Yabe, was business going smoothly from the start?
Nicola started his own business by creating an online shop, but he hit a wall with the "vintage barrier." Initially, he was making ties from vintage fabrics, but he couldn't meet the requests from customers who wanted more.
Yabe : I see. So how did you break through that wall?
I also like Nicola Design, so I started designing using a computer. The watch I'm wearing today is from the Spacca Neapolis First Collection.



What inspired Yabe 's designs?
Based on Nicola Vintage fabrics, we've added colors and patterns to create a collection that can be worn by men of all ages. There isn't a specific theme for the season, but this season we've featured Neapolitan motifs such as chili peppers (which in Naples are considered amulets to ward off magic and curses) and famous Neapolitan sweets, using bright colors as the base.
The fabric used for Yabe Spacca Neapolis is original, isn't it?
Nicola: That's right. We're taking designs inspired by vintage fabrics and applying them to today's new silk fabrics.

The trunk show was very fruitful.

For fans of Napoli, the brand name Spacca Neapolis is very interesting, but why this name?
Nicola "Spaccare" means "to divide" in Italian. It was taken from the name of a famous road that divides Naples in two.
Could you tell me about the characteristics of Yabe Spacca Neapolis ties?
Nicola recommends the "Tripieghe" (three-fold) scarf, which is lightweight (approximately 80g) and has no lining, allowing it to be used like a regular scarf. The basic width is 8.5cm, with longer lengths available for Europeans and shorter lengths for Asians.
How did you like the Yabe Trunk Show?
Nicolas: We had more customers than we expected, and it was a very fruitful event. It's wonderful for a young producer like myself to be able to give direct advice to older customers.
