Two pairs of shoes I wanted from a high-end store featuring world-class brands.

What I'm currently interested in from ENZO BONAFE is a pair of double monk strap shoes. I still keep in touch with Enzo Bonafe, and the base pattern for these shoes was something I created more than 20 years ago.

Enzo Bonafe Double Monk Strap Shoes: ¥118,800

The appeal of Enzo Bonafe lies in its small, family-run workshop and its artisanal approach. While famous for its hand-sewn welted construction, they also produce elegantly crafted Norwegian welted leather, a style only Bonafe can achieve. I also appreciate the Italian Bolognese-inspired flavors and overall atmosphere.

Also, Italian shoes tend to be overly decorative, but I like Bonafe's understated style, and they have a certain charm that you might find in British or French shoes.

JM WESTON shoes: ¥172,800

I mentioned that I like French shoes, but this J.M. Weston full brogue triple-soled derby is another pair I want. It's packed with Weston's signature features, such as the lace detailing, medallion toe, stitching and perforations, and triple sole, and above all, the volume of the last is outstanding. Its masculine, robust look makes a great contrast to slim tapered trousers.

I often get asked at talk shows and such, "What should I look for when buying shoes?" My answer is that men should stick to the most classic styles possible. Also, it's important to try them on and see if they fit well, so enjoy the process of finding the right shoes.
