Shimada says her Valentine's Day gift budget is "around 10,000 yen including an extra gift," Yamauchi says "around 10,000 yen for the extra gift, plus 3,000-4,000 yen for chocolate," and Murata, due to her job, says "it comes to 10,000 yen just for chocolate." Although they joined the company at the same time, they are assigned to different departments. In the second part of "The Latest Gift Trends," we start with each of their memorable Valentine's Days! Valentine's Day is full of bittersweet memories.

Shimada: I went to an all-girls high school, and it was a tradition for younger students to give homemade sweets to older students on Valentine's Day. We would put homemade sweets in Tupperware containers and give them to older students we met on school grounds.
Murata, that's so cute! It'll definitely be a great memory.
Shimada: On the contrary, Halloween is when seniors give candy to juniors. Both are big events and really fun!
Yamauchi: I also went to an all-girls school in middle and high school, so we would exchange homemade sweets with everyone in the class and give chocolates to the male teachers, which was a lot of fun!

Murata: My husband and I have been dating since we were in college, and I remember making chocolate sweets together on our second Valentine's Day. I put in all sorts of my favorite ingredients and it was a complete disaster, but we still ate it together happily.
I'm so jealous of Yamauchi !
