Shimaji : "When you're busy and tired, a pipe is more likely to provide a moment of solace than a cigar. Slowly puffing on a pipe filled with Hellenistic tobacco while reading a book is a wonderful and enriching experience."

Katsuhiko Shimaji
Katsuhiko Shimaji was born in 1941. After graduating from Aoyama Gakuin University, he joined Shueisha. He was assigned to "Weekly Playboy" and became its editor-in-chief in 1983. He created a sensation with the "Life Advice" column featuring Renzo Shibata, Toko Kon, and Ken Kaiko as respondents, and grew the magazine into a million-copy publication. He later served as editor-in-chief of "PLAYBOY Japan" and "BART." After serving as representative director of Shueisha International, he retired in 2008. He is currently a writer and essayist.
