Yoshimasa Hoshiba has moved to the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building which underwent a floor renovation ahead of the 7th floor's authentic casual wear section, to the business clothing/international selection section. "It's great that there's a counter in the middle of the floor where you can sit down and choose items," he said, immediately engaging in a discussion about trends with a stylist. He was very impressed to hear that he could check the latest arrival information using a tablet.
Isetan Men's Net's original project, "Autumn/Winter Stroll Through Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building ," features fashion experts seriously shopping for top-quality Italian jackets and trousers on the 5th floor!

The new "pants corner" behind the counter is fantastic. I've worn INCOTEX , PT01, and GTA before, of course, but it's wonderful to be able to choose from such a large number of pairs and variations in color and material. I've never seen anything like it, even in Italian shops.


This year, there's a general return to classic styles, and pleated trousers are attracting attention. I own all the variations, from single-pleated trousers to double-pleated trousers, and even flat trousers. Appearance is important, of course, but pleated trousers are also convenient when you put your hands in your pockets. I'm currently wearing a lot of gray trousers.

-- Do you have any tips or secrets for choosing pants, Mr. Hoshiba?

I have very specific preferences when it comes to pant length and silhouette, so if I don't like the hem width, I sometimes alter them myself. Even with a single T-shirt, I have a preferred length, so the amount I pay to the local tailor is ridiculously high (laughs). I'll buy a T-shirt for 3000 yen and pay 2000 yen to have the length altered.


The quality and quantity of the trousers section is excellent, but what I liked even more was the multi-functional lighting in the fitting rooms. It's great that you can see how the trousers look indoors under incandescent and fluorescent lighting, as well as lighting that replicates outdoor light. It reminded me of what fashion director Yukio Akamine, who writes a series for FORZA STYLE, said: "You should look at navy trousers in natural light." The fact that dress shoes, shirts, and ties are provided is also a thoughtful touch.
