What does it feel like to wear an ANNA MATUOZZO shirt, which is "13-point" fully hand-tailored? Tomohiko Hanano, a stylist at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st floor, Dress Shirts & Ties section, put into practice the saying, "Seeing is believing," or rather, "Wearing is believing." He says, "Last October, Ms. Anna Matuozzo visited the store, and I thought, 'This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it's now or never!' as it was the first bespoke shirt event in Japan in 16 years, so I placed an order." Following last year's success, Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st floor, Dress Shirts & Ties section will be hosting an Anna Matuozzo bespoke shirt event for three days, from September 29th (Fri) to October 1st (Sun).

As a stylist, I see all sorts of shirts every day, but Anna Matuzzo's shirts are such "good shirts" that I would want to have two or three more made if possible.

I experienced the kind of comfort that Anna raved about, saying it felt like a "second skin," with enough freedom of movement in the shoulders to almost play baseball while wearing it, and the body of the garment not being pulled at all even when raising my arms.

When I had my measurements taken at the bespoke session, to be honest, I thought the measurements were a bit rough (laughs), but just as Anna said, "Leave the rest to me," I was amazed by the indescribable fit and the exquisite amount of gathering when I tried it on.

As a shirt sewn with comfort as the top priority, it's in a class of its own.

Anna Matuzzo is known for its "13-point full hand-stitching," and at a bespoke tailoring session, Anna explained that "it naturally ended up with 13 stitches when I sewed the necessary areas by hand." After actually trying it on, I was convinced by its three-dimensional construction. However, even among handmade shirt makers, it's rare to find a shirt with such loose hand stitching, so I was quite nervous when I washed it for the first time.

When you order something custom-made, you tend to think that you need product knowledge and so on, not just for shirts, but Anna told me, "I'll do everything, so don't worry," and I only asked her to tone down the amount of the "manica camicia" (a style where the sleeves are gathered like raindrops), which is synonymous with Anna Matuzzo shirts.

I want to wear it with the feeling of "breaking in" the shirt.

I decided on the house model "Capri" for the collar style, and when I told Anna I wanted to choose the fabric from Carlo Riva, she advised me that "the quality of their cotton-linen blend is incomparably beautiful," so I went with cotton-linen. See, the fabric shines beautifully when the light hits it.

This shirt truly embodies the idea of a shirt that makes you stand taller when you wear it. I think it will become more comfortable the more I wear it, so I want to wear it with the feeling of "nurturing the shirt." I'm afraid to send it to the dry cleaners, so I wash and iron it myself.
