Katsuyuki: It was about a year ago, wasn't it? It all started when Mr. Onishi (President of Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings) went out of his way to come to the site and said, "Let's do sashiko embroidery." I was so grateful. There are many talented people who don't have the opportunity to showcase their work. But I was given a dream-like place to show my sashiko to customers. I was just so grateful and happy. That's really all there is to it.
Reo: When we finished setting up late the night before and looked around the venue together, I felt a renewed sense of determination, realizing that this was the real start. We went into the first day of the pop-up shop with the feeling that this was just the first step, but the artisans who made the "PC SASHIKO" products came to Tokyo and were moved to tears when they saw the exhibits. I'll never forget that sight. Sashiko takes five years to complete, from developing the fabric to processing and researching its strength. I want to continue working with the artisans and make it a material that will last for generations.

Katsuyuki: We're not really pursuing novelty; we're just doing the same thing over and over again. Of course, we do incorporate some changes and a touch of flair. But we believe we have to cherish sashiko as a Japanese material, so we approach every day with a learning mindset. That hasn't changed from a year ago to now. We know the danger of becoming conceited and thinking, "Look what I've created!"
