Kyoto-based dyeing factory Sugishita Co., Ltd. launched a new dyeing brand, "Shirushizome Sugishita," this June. We will be introducing it in conjunction with the "ISETAN JAPAN SENSES" campaign, which will start on Wednesday, October 19th at Isetan Shinjuku.

Printed furoshiki (approx. 100 x 100 cm) ¥7,020

Shirushizome, a dyeing technique that has been passed down since the Muromachi period, is a method of clearly dyeing family crests and other designs onto banners and furoshiki (wrapping cloths) to serve as markers.
Sugishita Co., Ltd. was founded in 1936 in Kyoto, the heartland of dyeing, and has been producing dyed items for special occasions such as festival jackets and banners, honing its advanced techniques and creating shirushi-zome (printed dyeing) products. Shirushi-zome Sugishita was born out of a desire to preserve this traditional technique and to make it more accessible for everyday use.

Printed handkerchief (approx. 45 x 45 cm) ¥1,944

Featuring a modern design inspired by the Chinese zodiac, these garments also boast a high-quality fabric that, despite being 100% cotton, possesses a silky smooth texture.
We offer handkerchiefs, furoshiki (wrapping cloths), and other items that are easy to incorporate into everyday life and make perfect gifts. Please enjoy the beauty and vibrant colors unique to the stencil dyeing technique.
