Shoes in "Japan Blue" that are captivating the world
This summer I wanted to spend it surrounded by "blue and white," so I'm writing this from the Greek island of Paros for the first time in a while.
I traveled here by boat from Athens, and the contrast between the blue of the roofs and window frames and the white of the marble buildings was as stunning as ever. As I pondered the color "blue" in this place, I suddenly remembered Japan's proud "indigo blue."

Foreigners who came to Japan during the Meiji era also noticed its unique blue color and praised it, calling it "Japan Blue." Every time I visit Japan and find this "mysterious blue," I feel just as happy as I do here.
My current favorite find in Japan is a pair of shoes from "SEKItoWA." While navy shoes exist in Europe and America, the handcrafted finish of these shoes, with its distinctive uneven leather, truly embodies the essence of Japan Blue.
My artwork will be displayed in my gallery, so I'm waiting for feedback. I'll stay on this island a little longer and enjoy the world of "blue."
I hope you have a wonderful summer vacation.
-- CHALIE VICE
From Wednesday, August 10th to Monday, August 22nd, THE GALLERY by CHALIE VICE will be showcasing shoes in "Japan Blue" that are captivating the world. The exhibition features exquisite pieces created with themes of Japanese "chic" and "elegance," including the "indigo" color that CHALIE finds so appealing.
Sukumo Leather Shoes: ¥172,800 each. View product: Top image: Loafers / Bottom image: Straight-tip shoes. These dress shoes are made with "Sukumo Leather," a rare natural indigo-dyed leather dyed in Kyoto. They were created in collaboration with Otsuka Shoe Co., Ltd., a shoe manufacturer that has been establishing the new culture of Western shoes in Japan since its founding in 1872 (Meiji 5), and has always been mindful of and pursued the Japanese foot shape.
These shoes are truly exceptional, showcasing the deep, unique color of indigo and the exquisite craftsmanship evident throughout.
* "Sukumo Leather" uses "sukumo," a natural dye produced through a traditional manufacturing method that has been passed down for approximately 600 years. It is one of the few natural indigo-dyed leathers in the world, dyed in Kyoto using Awa indigo from Tokushima Prefecture, which is a nationally designated intangible cultural property, and natural lye-based indigo dye.

CHALIE must really love the Japanese color indigo to wear indigo-dyed leather shoes. Having "indigo" on her feet at all times must remind her of Japan, right?
In addition to these, we are also introducing new styles of items such as tableware and clothing that combine traditional Japanese techniques and aesthetics, so we look forward to your visit.
*Some Sekitowa products are also available for purchase at the online store "NOREN NOREN ISETAN MITSUKOSHI" .
Event Information
Hakushika presents a new way to enjoy sake. "Ozu Maison du Sake" is set in a traditional Kyoto townhouse and showcases scenes related to sake. It is a place where you can enjoy a "refined, slightly luxurious" experience, appreciating how the taste of sake changes depending on the type of sake vessel and how it changes with pairings. It is also a secret place that CHALIEVICE always visits when they go to Kyoto.
This time, CHALIE made a special request, and we are pleased to have them make a special business trip to Tokyo. In addition to enjoying sake and Japanese sweets served in different vessels, please also enjoy the hospitality that is unique to Kyoto.
