JAPAN BLUE | Setouchi denim and indigo dyeing come together in one place: Collaboration with 6 Japanese designers

Blue has long been a familiar and beloved color for the Japanese people. While there is a wide range of blues, from classic navy to translucent cobalt blue, this time we focus on the aging blue of indigo and azure dye. From Wednesday, March 30th, Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 7th floor = Authentic Casual will be holding "JAPAN BLUE," focusing on denim and indigo dyeing. With the theme of "the beauty of blue," brands and items related to the Chugoku and Shikoku regions overlooking the Seto Inland Sea will be featured. The world of blue presented by six Japanese designers will offer a wide range of items, from those with a faded look as if they have been well used to solid pieces that are expected to age beautifully in the future.
KAPTAIN SUNSHINE T-shirts: Left: ¥14,904, Right: ¥14,040
KAPTAIN SUNSHINE has collaborated with "BUAISOU," a creative group based in Kamisaka-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, known as a production area for Awa indigo, which handles all processes from cultivating indigo to making sukumo (the dye used in indigo dye), preparing the indigo dye solution, dyeing, and finishing. The indigo dye solution, prepared using the traditional "jigoku-date" method, which involves mixing sukumo with wood ash lye, wheat bran, and lime and fermenting it, produces a deep, vibrant blue that does not bleed.
FANDAMENTAL x VANS sneakers: ¥16,200 each

Introducing sneakers that showcase individuality through the texture of indigo material and patchwork arrangements. This collaboration between FANDAMENTAL, which pursues thorough product creation without compromise, and VANS, which uses denim fabric with a unique Japanese touch, features an upper made by patchwork-connecting various fabrics woven with indigo yarn, based on VANS' classic models "Slip-On" and "Era". As you wear them, the creases will change, and the color will fade and wear in a way that makes them age beautifully.
ANACHRONORM denim pants ¥45,360

ANACHRONORM focuses on denim materials that change over time, creating aged products through communication with skilled craftsmen. Their denim and denim jackets, utilizing realistic processing, remaking, and aging techniques, have a vintage feel, as if they've already experienced a long period of time.

CURLY Parka ¥30,024

Kagawa Prefecture, which still accounts for 90% of Japan's glove production, is the home base of CURLY. CURLY has cultivated its sewing techniques through the production of gloves, where the seams are narrow and even a 1mm deviation directly affects the comfort of the garment. Following in this tradition, CURLY's cut-and-sew items, finished with advanced sewing techniques, achieve a level of silhouette construction and comfort previously unimaginable.
This time, we've used a material dyed using a special dyeing method called "speck dyeing." By deliberately applying a urethane coating, we've created a unique uneven texture and a deep, rich blue color. We're also proud of this special fabric, which has been given firmness and body.
Bibury Court Jacket: ¥38,880

This unlined shirt jacket is from Bibury Court. Made from high-density typewriter fabric, it has a crispness, body, and coolness more suitable for a jacket than typical shirt fabrics. Garment-dyed with indigo, it develops a beautiful patina and worn-in look with continued use. Its simple color and shape ensure it will be a garment you can enjoy for many years to come.

In addition, the store is packed with brands and items not usually available, such as Captain Sunshine x PORTER bags and denim with various washes.
