—The "Crestbridge check" was a symbolic element of the collection. What other key items are there for this season?
Just like with the Black Label, I wanted to create an iconic pattern that would instantly evoke the brand's image. Unlike previous check patterns, I used a block check, and with white as an accent, I balanced the color scheme to create something that is "somewhat classic yet somehow new."
For this collection, we aimed to create something as basic as possible within the theme of Mods. The Mod coat is based on the American military coat called the "M-51," which was worn by young British men over their suits at the time, making it a signature item of Mod style. The regimental stripes peeking out from the geometric camouflage pattern give it a somewhat British feel. Furthermore, by adding details unique to Crestbridge, such as the zippers above the flap pockets and the lining that deliberately protrudes from the hem of the coat, this collection shows not just an admiration for Britain, but also a willingness to take on challenges.
Next up is a down jacket with a houndstooth pattern reimagined as camouflage. This style revives a look that was popular as holiday wear in the 1950s among the British expedition team that made the first ascent of Mount Everest and among the aristocracy who enjoyed mountaineering. It features a large drawstring at the waist, allowing you to adjust the silhouette.
Back then, down jackets weren't as common as they are today, so we layered tweed coats and jackets, or stuffed military wear with padding... We created our own clothing styles. This style, too, originally originated in Britain.

This trench coat, with its two-tone design front and back, was created with a focus on basic elements, but with a strong emphasis on detail. For example, the horizontally positioned flaps at the waist and the high-placed pockets are classic details essential to its original military origins.
I think I was able to successfully express what I was aiming for, incorporating a balance and cutting that hasn't been seen in classic trench coats before.

—These shoes have become an important part of your collection. What significance do they hold for you, Mr. Mihara?
I practically entered this world because I love shoes. They're something you wear on your feet, but they're an important item that really brings out the wearer's individuality and sets them apart. They might be a secondary item, but for me, they're like a major main item.
For our debut season, we added a touch of flair to basic styles such as straight tips and wing tips. For example, we incorporated classic British details like kiltie tongues adorned with studs, and aimed to create sneaker-like leather shoes by using flat soles and clear heels. Another distinctive feature is the use of rounded shoe lasts to suit the wider foot shape of Japanese people who have grown up accustomed to sneakers.
And then there are sneakers. They are a symbol of ever-evolving footwear. Leather shoes have always had a classic and authentic image. The manufacturing method hasn't changed for over 100 years. On the other hand, sneakers are constantly changing along with the evolution of technology. In terms of "innovation," we also offer sneakers that go well with suit styles. These sneakers, which have a traditional image thanks to the addition of a kiltie tongue, feature a Union Jack peeking out from between the leather.
