Q: I don't know how to wear a pocket square appropriately for business or formal occasions.

A. For business attire, master the "TV fold." For formal attire, master the "three peaks" fold. Both are easy to master as they only require folding and inserting the pocket square.

Respondent: Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building

"TV Fold"

Step 1
Fold the pocket square into quarters to form a square. When doing this, leave a small portion of the visible side sticking out, as shown in the picture, so that it looks neat when you insert the pocket square.

Step 2
Next, fold it in half again to match the width of your pocket. Then, fold the bottom edge inward by about one-third to match the depth of your pocket.

Step 3
Insert the bag into the pocket with the fold you made at the end of Step 2 facing downwards.
Inserting the pocket square so that only a small portion is visible completes the elegant "TV fold" style.

"Three Peaks"

Step 1
Fold the chief into a triangle by aligning the diagonal corners, then fold it into a triangle again. When folding it the second time, slightly offset the corners of the triangle.

Step 2
Fold it into a triangle again, shifting the corners slightly. This time, fold it so that the three peaks are evenly aligned.

Step 3
Fold the lower part of the tab inward to fit the size of your breast pocket.

Step 4
The bag is complete when the three peaks visible from the breast pocket are inserted evenly. If the spacing between the three peaks is uneven when you insert it, make minor adjustments to straighten it out.

For a business look, choose a pocket square with a simple, understated design. Adding a touch of playfulness by using a reversible one, like the one on the left, is also recommended.

For formal occasions such as weddings, choose a pocket square that exudes cleanliness and elegance. The white linen pocket square on the right, featuring a subtle initial detail, allows you to enjoy stylishness even in a hidden area. A glossy pocket square, like the two on the left, adds a touch of formality and elegance.
