How to choose the perfect "adult down jacket" for this season

With the theme of "down jackets for adults," we've selected three types of down jackets that are recommended for three different people, focusing not only on "warmth" but also on "tailoring," "material feel," and "looks." We'll explain the differences in material feel and details of each and introduce how to style them as an adult!

Tsuchiya: "A matte, sophisticated texture, and a refined military-inspired design that you can rely on even when traveling."

 

Iwata chose a DUVETICA down coat for Tsuchiya, who had just returned from a trip to Alaska.
Featuring military-inspired design details such as hand warmers and elbow patches, the matte finish with a subdued sheen gives it a sophisticated look. The adjustable waist allows for silhouette customization. Its appeal lies in its combination of compactness and warmth.

Tsuchiya: This is incredibly warm. I feel like I could go back to Alaska right now! It's lightweight so it's easy to pack, and with just this one garment, I can wear it for various occasions while traveling.


Iwata: The size works well whether you prefer a fitted or relaxed fit. The silhouette doesn't get ruined even when layered underneath.

Tsuchiya: The length is just right, it doesn't look frumpy, and it looks smart.

Okada's recommendation: "An adult down jacket that shines with its excellent tailoring."

Next, Iwata chose a sophisticated down jacket from the Italian brand MONTECORE for Okada. The outer surface is polyester, yet it has a wool-like texture, and the careful tailoring, such as the piping and forward-sloping shoulders, shines through. The large pockets and minimalist fasteners give it a luxurious feel.


Okada: The moment I saw it, I thought, "Is this down?" because the tailoring is so beautiful.

Iwata: This down coat has a design and material that makes it feel like wearing a wool coat, and it's also recommended for business occasions.

Okada: It's lightweight and easy to move in. It goes well with wool pants, and it has a nice silhouette even when buttoned up.


Iwata: I would recommend this even to people who aren't used to down jackets. Even with this level of tailoring, it's more modest compared to high-end brands, so the cost performance is also attractive.

Tashiro's recommendation: "A sophisticated urban down jacket in a playful 'coyote color'."

Tashiro chose the DUVETICA "BALYON" model in coyote (camel) color. This is an updated model that evolves from the classic "BARIO" model by giving it a more relaxed fit. The hood is detachable, making it versatile enough for both casual and city wear.

Tashiro: I hadn't checked out this coyote color. When I actually tried it on, it had a softer feel. The sleeves are snug, but the body is loose, so I think I could have fun layering it without zipping it up.



Iwata: The hood is detachable, which gives it a smart look, and it can also be worn with hooded items underneath, such as a parka.

Tashiro: The length isn't too short, and the button colors and other details give it a nice, refined look. The coyote color is eye-catching and easy to pair with black or patterned items, and it looks like it would be great for layering.
