[Look] Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO unveils its Fall/Winter 2025 collection.
Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2025 collection.
For its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO tackled the challenge of re-presenting the core identity the brand had built up over approximately 30 years through the use of paradox.
A Little Paradox Part Six
"Where do you like to travel?"
Conversations on the street, bathed in the red glow of the setting sun, evoke a sense of grand romance and anticipation for a story.
For me, someone who spends most of their life within a 10-kilometer radius, this question is philosophical.
However, I can't find any reason at all to like traveling. In fact, I practically hate it.
I try to bravely answer that innocent yet insensitive question, but nothing comes to mind.
10 seconds...20 seconds...
The more time passes, the higher the expectations will likely become.
50 seconds...
No good. It's painful.
70 seconds...
Ah, I want to get away from this place.
90 seconds...
I want to go far away.
— Yasuhiro Mihara
We presented "tailoring" as a slow concept that stands in contrast to the rapid trends of our times. Starting with a re-examination of the word, which now even carries a certain dusty connotation, and which refers to "tailoring" in a broader sense than just suit tailoring, we developed clothing with forms that evoke a sense of stylistic contradiction.
The inverted pattern, frequently used throughout the collection, in which two blousons of different sizes are docked upside down, paradoxically highlights the essence of tailoring, while the tops, in which trouser patterns are transformed into sleeves, apply the classic deconstructive technique of transformation.
The sneaker that is both the designer's origin and the brand's signature has been reborn as "OLIVER". This collaboration model between the line "General scale." which started in 2020 and AUTRY , which has a factory in Italy, was created by Mr. Mihara, who resonated with AUTRY 's philosophy of aiming for authentic products that are not influenced by trends. He recreated the weathered sole of the iconic "MEDALIST" sneaker without altering its retrospective form, using a burnt process. The paradox of the concept of time, encompassing the past and future contained within the "sneaker with a worn-out look," invites reflection on the essence of things.
What this collection attempts is merely a re-evaluation of "tailoring," not the invention of "new tailoring." It is a paradoxical process of escaping the illusion of creating something entirely new, and instead re-examining the fundamental acts of drawing patterns, cutting fabric, and sewing it together, thereby clearly defining the brand's contours and imbuing it with a strength that can withstand the test of time.
