"Fashion improver" Junpei Seki, who has lectured us on sophisticated adult styles many times during our "Adult Social Studies Field Trips," has come to Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building !
Mr. Seki, who apparently came all the way from France just for this video, is a fashion veteran whom GUIDE crew member Tsuchiya "admires."

CIOTA , a denim brand also carried at Seki's concept store "keylime Tokyo," is starting a presence at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . The three GUIDE crew members will learn about the appeal of CIOTA and how to style denim like a grown-up. Be sure to watch the video until the end!

CIOTA denim is truly unique in its fabric, stitching, and details!

Making its debut Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building CIOTA is a brand that originated from a denim sewing factory in Okayama Prefecture and debuted in the Fall/Winter 2019 season. Based on the experience and knowledge gained from sewing denim for various brands over many years, it differentiates itself in terms of image, comfort, and silhouette, but its most distinctive feature is the fabric. According to Mr. Seki, "It's a beautiful denim, so it goes well with dress items like those found on the 5th floor of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , and it's a denim that's quite different from the so-called Okayama-style denim brands."

This season, CIOTA jeans will be sold on the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building in only one style, but it will be available in six colors: three shades of blue and three shades of black.
The blue range comes in two variations: one-wash and a faded version. The black range includes two variations of black with different finishes and gray denim, for a total of six color options.


Seki : "The silhouette is based on the silhouette of a certain famous brand from the 70s, a clean silhouette that isn't too baggy. Instead of wearing them in the American casual style, they look great in a French traditional style, like tucking in a shirt and wearing JM Weston with slightly slim, shorter jeans."

"Basic of basics" suits Tsuchiya very well.

Seki chose the most basic blue one-wash from CIOTA for Tsuchiya. It's the darkest blue model, and it goes well with the navy knit Tsuchiya is wearing.


Tsuchiya, who tried them on, said, "I tried on size 34, and the silhouette is beautiful. They're also not stiff and are very comfortable to wear."

Seki : "Today's styling is perfect. CIOTA ships the fabric in its woven state, then cuts, sews, and washes it, so it's characterized by twisting, shrinking, and the selvedge being misaligned."




Tsuchiya: "Why are they so comfortable to wear?"

Seki: " CIOTA denim uses Suvin cotton for the weft threads, so the inside that touches the skin is smooth and silky. It has a vintage look, but it's also light and soft, so you can enjoy a stress-free wearing experience."

The way he's wearing those sleek gray jeans is so cool!

Tsuchiya's blue one-wash denim offers the enjoyment of "breaking it in as a vintage piece" through washing, but the gray denim that Seki chose for the knotless design is an item that only CIOTA could create.

Seki: "This gray denim looks gray because it uses black threads for the warp and natural-colored threads for the weft. The selvedge also has a nice faded look, and you won't find another vintage-style gray denim like this anywhere else."


These jeans pair well with light-colored tops and outerwear that Fushinuki likes, and they look great worn in a sophisticated, urban style. Seki also recommends them, saying, "These are gray jeans that adults should wear."

They're all the same shape, but they have different vibes! Tashiro's silhouette is beautiful even from behind.

For Tashiro, Seki chose black denim with a "black on black" finish.



Tashiro: "This is the first time we've seen black denim in 'Adult Social Studies Field Trip,' and it has a beautiful silhouette even from behind."

Seki: "The black fabric woven on an old-fashioned power loom naturally has selvage edges."

Tashiro: "It's a 'black with ears.' The ear detail looks great, and it also works well as a shorter, slightly folded-ear style."

Tashiro has a slightly ear-shaped hairstyle.

Seki: "The blue one-wash jeans that Tsuchiya-san is wearing also have selvedge edges, so if you fold up the hems a little like Tashiro-san, you can get that 'worn-in' look. The three shades of blue use indigo dye for the warp threads, so you can enjoy a different kind of fading compared to indigo."

Tsuchiya has also updated his ears a bit.
