OAO, a shoe manufacturer based in Tokyo and Kyoto that pursues exceptional comfort and refined beauty, will be holding a pop-up store at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 6th floor, Men's Creators from May 29th (Wed) to June 4th (Tue).

This pop-up store will feature a wide range of sizes and models for both men and women, including OAO's iconic items such as the frequently sold-out "SUNLIGHT" and classic shoes like "THE CURVE 1," as well as new items from the Spring/Summer 2024 season. We will also be taking pre-orders for the brand's first-ever sandals, "MONOLITH" and "SUNLIGHT VOID."

The multiple stitch lines placed throughout the shoe are designed to echo the graceful curves of the bamboo splints in Isamu Noguchi's light sculpture "AKARI." It features Vibram's latest sole, offering unprecedented cushioning and stability, combined with a high-rebound urethane insole and cork midsole for a soft and comfortable fit. Environmentally friendly faux leather is used.

The classic "THE CURVE 1" has been updated with a new last, manufacturing method, and pattern. The opening is wider and lower than before, improving ease of putting on and taking off, and the comfort against the foot. The pattern has also been revised, resulting in a silhouette where the curve is even more beautifully accentuated. Even with continued wear, the shape is less likely to lose its form, and the beautiful stand-up shape is maintained. The leather has been further upgraded, and the synthetic leather used in the opening is made from recycled materials to make it softer and more comfortable to wear. The sole uses the highly regarded Vibram RollinGait System from Vibram. Its unique shape and flexibility provide a natural propulsion that moves your feet forward, and it achieves a light stride that you wouldn't expect from its voluminous appearance, reducing fatigue during travel while also supporting a stylish look.

This model aims to combine modern elegance and functionality through research into authentic styles. The upper features a classic pattern reminiscent of bespoke footwear. The design, primarily composed of leather, exudes a refined and formal atmosphere. The soft, thick sole provides excellent cushioning, while the elastic laces, combining flexibility and strength, ensure both easy on and off and a secure fit. Replacement flat laces are also included.

These shoes are designed to transform the normally stressful experience of "water coming into contact with your shoes" into a pleasant one. The stitching expresses the shape of waves that resonate with the movement of the water's surface, and the design creates a comfortable feeling as water flows down the shoes. For a comfortable and soft feel, they utilize "Ultrasoft technology," a technique that tans leather to be extremely soft, and "UST OIL PULLUP WP100K" leather, which is impregnated with a special oil to achieve everyday water resistance. Equipped with YKK's standard water-resistant zipper "Aquaguard" and a standard 5.8cm thick Vibram sole, these shoes are perfect for rainy days as well.

The sole is characterized by its substantial weight, created by carefully shaping each piece individually using overlapping materials with different textures. Despite its volume, it is surprisingly lightweight, with a sponge-like light EVA midsole, a highly grippy outsole, and a voluminous square sole that beautifully accentuates the silhouette. ECCO LEATHER leather is used for the tongue, instep, and ankle area.

These are OAO's first leather sandals, combining neoprene that gently holds the ankle with calf leather that has a fine grain and a beautiful look. Based on the popular ProjextX sole, and combined with a soft EVA insole, they achieve a soft and comfortable fit with good flexibility despite being 6.5cm thick. The size can be adjusted with a leather strap.

These are OAO's first slider sandals, crafted from exceptionally soft sheepskin and domestically produced linen canvas known for its strength and dry touch. They feature Vibram's new Zermatt sole, offering a balanced volume and simple design. The sole incorporates the new "Traction Lug" technology, providing high grip, propulsion, and lightweight comfort while maintaining softness. The stitching lines throughout the sandal are designed to evoke the graceful curves of the bamboo slats in Isamu Noguchi's "AKARI" chair.
