A special project to create sauna beer in collaboration with the Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Club.

This is the fifth installment of a project to develop products based on customer feedback.
This time, the Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Club and a liquor buyer are working together to create craft beer and cider with the motto , "We want to make the post-sauna relaxation time even better!" The final recipe will be decided by additional aromas that you can vote on. If we meet the order requirements and proceed to production, we plan to sell them to the general public at the Mitsukoshi Isetan online store and at sauna-related events. This is the only place where you can participate in the beer making process and purchase them with a special pre-sale bonus (original sticker)! Let's make the best sauna beer and cider together!

1. Beer and cider made with hot water

＼Beer after a sauna tastes great! ／

People often say they "get into the zone" after going to a sauna, and the secret to this is related to the deep state of relaxation achieved through the sauna → cold bath → rest cycle.

"By going into the sauna and then the cold bath, the sympathetic nervous system becomes dominant, and then the parasympathetic nervous system becomes dominant during the subsequent rest. This balances the autonomic nervous system, and I feel like my senses, such as taste, are sharpened. As a result, the food and beer I eat after the sauna taste more delicious than usual, and I can enjoy them even more." (Fukushima, Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Department)

"Also, in a sauna, depending on the individual and the environment, you sweat a lot and become very thirsty, so you crave a refreshing carbonated drink, which makes beer taste even better. So we decided to create a beer that would make people think, 'Let's have a sauna!' after a sauna." (Tashiro, Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Department)

* Immediately after using the sauna, be sure to rehydrate thoroughly (with sports drinks or water), rest for a while, and then consume alcohol.

What's the perfect beer to drink after feeling refreshed ?

Recently, many stylish public bathhouses offer craft beer, allowing people to enjoy an even greater sense of well-being after their bath or sauna. Therefore, the Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Club and a liquor buyer have thoroughly considered "what kind of beer is best for achieving that feeling of well-being?" and have decided to create an official craft beer for the Sauna Club.

"After a sauna, your senses are heightened in a good way, so you need to be careful of anything too strong or stimulating. A beer that has a refreshing feel as it goes down your throat and a moderate flavor is ideal." (Takamura, Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Club)

"The visual color is also important. This time, a clear golden color is best to further enhance the feeling after the sauna." (Tashiro, Mitsukoshi Isetan Sauna Department)

"Wouldn't it be great if we could create a delicious, more relaxing beer using aromatherapy and herbs?" (Takashima, Alcohol Manager and Sauna Club Member)

Each of us shared our ideal beer ideas, and after much discussion, we decided to collaborate with Okuyamato Beer in Nara Prefecture, a company with extensive knowledge of aromatic herbs, to create "Oyukare Beer."
During the discussion, we also expressed our desire to let people who don't like alcohol experience that refreshing feeling, so we requested that they also make cider! And just like with the beer, it was decided that we would also make "Oyukare Cider," a cider with added aroma!

"Today, too, I'll express my gratitude for your hard work."
Whether you're using the sauna or not, we aim to create a beer that envelops you in a warmth like hot water.
The beer style uses saison yeast and emphasizes aroma , while the alcohol content is set at 3.7% , a nod to saunas, making it easy to drink without putting a strain on the body after a sauna session.
It boasts a beautiful golden color and delivers a refreshing sensation with a hint of spiciness from the use of herbs and aromas (vihta, elderflower, peppermint, hibiscus).
Our cider is made with a focus on the aromas used in beer, flavored with natural sweeteners, resulting in a refreshing drink. While the taste is different from beer, we strive to create a cider that leaves you with a similar feeling after drinking it.

2. How about we brainstorm some beer and cider recipes together?

The final recipes for this "Hot Water Beer" and "Hot Water Cider" will be decided by the votes of everyone who pre-ordered! We couldn't decide on the final aroma to add to the beer and cider on our own, so we'd love for your votes to help us decide.
After you place your order, we will send you a survey. Please choose one of the following and cast your vote.

A prototype (preview) of the beer before the final aroma is added will be available for tasting at BEER PUB CAMDEN Minami-Ikebukuro in Ikebukuro from Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022.
How about a drink after enjoying a sauna at "Karumaru" or "Times Spa Resta"?
This offer will end once the prototypes are sold out. Please contact the store in advance regarding stock availability.
