[Fun to Dress vol.3] The full details of the newly renovated personal order salon are revealed | Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store Personal Order Salon
This year, the Personal Order Salon at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store has shifted its focus to a floor that encompasses a wide range of lifestyle products. What does buyer Yuki Yamaura, who demonstrated this bold direction, envision for the new Personal Order Salon? The outline becomes clear when you look at the many items prepared for the Fall/Winter 2021 season. Yamaura himself will tell you all about the highlights.
The theme for Fall/Winter 2021 is, quite simply, "Addiction."
Inversely proportional to the decline in suit-wearing, the passion of those who love suits is growing. It can truly be called an "addiction," or "frenzy." While we must never neglect efforts to broaden the base of suit enthusiasts, we first wanted to respond to the feelings of those who love suits. Therefore, for the Fall/Winter 2021 season, we are proposing various ideas with "Addiction" as the overall theme. Among them, we would like to introduce five styles from three particularly noteworthy features.
[POINT 1] 100 different tartan patterns are available.

I want to thoroughly explore the joy of tailoring a suit—and tartan check is a pattern that could become an icon of that. It's a pattern said to have originated in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th or 17th century.
This pattern, which is familiar to us as well, stands out as remarkably unique among the many fabrics available. While it's a pattern that should be a staple in a gentleman's wardrobe, it's difficult to find in ready-to-wear clothing these days, given the current trend towards solid colors. In other words, it's an unparalleled fabric for made-to-measure garments.
The focus is on Dugdale Brothers' lightweight tartans. Dugdale Brothers is a prestigious, long-established company founded in 1896 in Huddersfield, a leading center of the British wool industry. Their high-quality craftsmanship is highly regarded by tailors worldwide, but their lightweight tartans are particularly impressive. Their lineup boasts approximately 100 different designs!
No other merchant in the world offers such a wide variety of tartans. It's also worth noting that they offer variations in texture, such as classic and vibrant colors, even within the same Black Watch pattern.
Even though it's called "lightweight," it still has a weight of 320 gms. It's only lighter than traditional tartan checks, but considering the lifestyle of modern urban dwellers, it's a suitable weight.
How to style this unique fabric? If you're wearing a tie, I like to enjoy a full-on traditional look with a pattern-on-pattern combination. If you're not wearing a tie, I like to pair it with a fine-gauge knit polo or turtleneck for a refined look.
With 100 different tartan patterns available at Dugdale Brothers, you're sure to find a pattern you love. Above all, simply flipping through their swatch books is so enjoyable that you'll lose track of time. Don't miss this opportunity!
[POINT 2] Suiting that you might not have thought existed before.
If "Addiction" is an outstanding proposal that will satisfy even the most well-dressed individuals, then "New suggestion," the theme we're focusing on here, is a suiting proposal that seems obvious but hasn't been seen before. Addiction Style2.-“COMFORT SUIT”
One suggestion is for those who want to enjoy suiting even on weekends. The keyword is comfort. This is embodied in the flannel jersey fabric and features such as shirring and drawstrings.

For flannel jersey, we recommend a product from Vitale Barberis Canonico, a well-known brand in Japan. Made from 100% wool, this fabric is extremely comfortable thanks to its excellent elasticity. The color palette includes six colors: navy, charcoal, medium gray, light gray, beige, and brown.
As mentioned above, the trousers have been updated with comfortable specifications, but the jacket retains the original tailor's pattern. We made sure that comfort didn't mean it would look cheap. This was the priority we focused on, and as a result, the jacket has high potential in terms of comfort, and the flannel jersey fabric makes it more than comfortable.
Addiction Style3.-“COAT”
The Personal Order Salon is currently focusing on offering suggestions that transcend the boundaries between work and leisure, and this item perfectly embodies that worldview.
When you think of bespoke tailoring, you might have a strong image of a formal, business-appropriate style like a suit jacket, and you might feel like there aren't many options to suit your personal style. However, you can actually order stylish coats like those offered by Italian factory brands.

A coat that you don't wear over a suit is especially recommended this season.
The newly designed, longer raglan shoulders offer versatility, making it easy to pair with knitwear and sneakers.
[POINT 3] Sand and stone add depth, and wool is soft and smooth.
Finally, let's talk about the colors and materials, which cannot be overlooked.Addiction Style 4.-“COLOR”
Amidst the current trend of solid colors, we'd like to propose Sand and Stone as fabrics that are a step ahead. The former is based on beige, and the latter on light gray, but we've selected only those with a depth of color that is characteristic of melange.

This season, the material we're focusing on is fine-gauge wool, often discussed in the same context as flannel jersey. Until now, heavy-weight, dry wools that are distinctly British have been popular, but there's a growing demand for materials that combine strength and suppleness. Let me explain its appeal using Drago's Skyfall as an example. Last year, we offered it as a suit fabric, and it was very well received for its wonderful feel. This time, we're offering it in weights suitable for both jackets and coats.
The yarn used in this fabric is Super 180! It's incredibly soft and supple. Yet, it's more durable than cashmere, so you don't need to be overly careful with it for everyday use, and it's available at an affordable price.
These are the initiatives that symbolize this autumn. We offer a variety of fabrics and designs that allow you to experience the joy of tailoring, taking into account modern lifestyles. Our personal order salon has been transformed into a floor that pleasantly defies the image of traditional salons. I will also be waiting for you at the store. Thank you for your support.
