The shoes worn by businessmen are changing, but the Japanese temperament remains the same.

With the casualization of business attire and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, it's a global trend for businessmen to wear casual shoes to work, with fewer people wearing lace-up shoes. However, because Japanese people appreciate quality, JM WESTON 's "#641 Golf" and "#180 Signature Loafers" are seeing increased sales. Both are timeless models that represent the brand, and their versatility—being able to be worn with both suits and jeans—is also appealing. Compared to other Asian countries, Japan has a high level of interest in and strong commitment to leather shoes.

For those of you who want to wear good shoes for a long time, we recommend JM WESTON 's sustainable program, "Weston Vintage." It will be unveiled for the first time in Japan from Wednesday, April 7th, at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st floor promotion.

The "Weston Vintage" program collects and takes in JM WESTON shoes that are no longer worn, repairs and restores them at the factory in Limoges, France, the birthplace of the brand, and sells them as if they were new. The insoles are also stamped with a special mark indicating that they were restored in Limoges. Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building will be stocking approximately 150 pairs of "Weston Vintage" shoes.

It will be restored and reborn at the factory in Limoges, the birthplace of the Maison.

When we launched the "Weston Vintage" program in Japan about a year ago, we received a great response from people interested in fashion. When the French team launched this program, I also thought it was a very interesting initiative, and I thought it was worthwhile for JM WESTON to officially recycle items in Japan, where there is a vintage market for watches, shoes, and clothing.

Globally, leather used in shoes is becoming an increasingly important material, and JM WESTON shoes are durable enough to last 30 or even 40 years if properly cared for and having the soles replaced. Another strong point of JM WESTON shoes is the capability, technology, and know-how of the factory in Limoges. All of our shoe repairs are done at the Limoges factory, where skilled craftsmen repair and restore approximately 10,000 pairs of shoes by hand each year.


In France, shoe recycling began two years ago, and it's so popular that there's a waiting list at the Paris flagship store for customers wanting "Weston Vintage." When we announced this program in Japan, it received a lot of media attention, so we were hoping for a similar response here, but we haven't collected as many pairs as we expected. That's because Japanese Weston fans cherish their shoes and aren't willing to sell them (laughs). Please come and see the "Weston Vintage" unveiling at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , and please consider participating in the recycling program.

Thanks to your support, JM WESTON has reached its 130th anniversary. What we want to convey with "Weston Vintage" at this milestone is the value and history etched into a single pair of shoes. Shoes born in the Limoges factory are purchased by someone who likes them, and they walk around town, travel, frequent restaurants, attend ceremonies, and eventually end their "first life." But they are restored and revived at the Limoges factory, and someone else takes a liking to them, and their "second life" begins. In Japan, there is a wonderful phrase, "ichigo ichie" (one time, one encounter), and "Weston Vintage" is truly a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.


JM WESTON shoes, when properly cared for and worn, are proof that their story can last for 100 years, and it's fascinating that the memories of someone who walked through them can be carried into the next generation. Looking at the finished "Weston Vintage" shoes, they are truly priceless, with someone's memories and the excellent work of the craftsman included in the price.

This event at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building will feature a retro interior reminiscent of a vintage shop in Paris, showcasing both "Weston Vintage" and the new collection. We will also be displaying about four pairs of vintage shoes specially modified by Olivier Saillard, our Artistic Image & Culture Director, so please come and see them. We are looking forward to seeing the reactions of our customers as we will be mainly showcasing vintage items at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , which carries some of the trendiest items in Japan.

The J.M. Weston "#641 Golf" and "#180 Signature Loafers" become part of the same family.

The "#641 Golf," a long-time favorite among customers, has seen a succession of derivative models, including the triple-sole derby, the suede "EUGENE," and the "HIGH-TOP DERBY," a boot redesigned with beautiful curves, forming a unique Golf family. In addition, a collaboration model with the French brand UNIFORME, an updated triple-sole version of the Golf, is available for limited pre-order at the Aoyama store.


Just like with golf shoes, the "#180 Signature Loafers" family is expanding with the "EUGENE" model, which uses suede and is finished with the Norwegian welt construction method, as well as a triple-sole version. The combination of a refined look and variations in materials and colors truly points to the future of the brand.
