[Special Feature] Female Stylists Propose! Spring Business & Weekend Styles Men Should Wear

Kaori Masuko and Kyoko Kawata, in-store stylists for men's tailored clothing on the 5th floor of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building propose spring business and weekend styles that they want men to wear.

This time, under the theme of "Stylish Dressing" for Men's Tailored Clothing's Spring/Summer 2021 season, we'll introduce spring outfits that we want men to wear, from the unique sensibilities of female stylists. These women, who usually interact with customers in stores, will introduce their individual thoughts on this season's styling points.

We'll teach you the key points for a "spring outfit that makes a great impression" that's perfect for the new normal era.

Based on the men's tailored clothing season theme, "Stylish and Chic," stylist Kaori Masuko, who elegantly wears a khaki double-breasted suit ordered from LA SCALA , wants to propose outfits that lift the spirits with fresh color combinations, incorporating bright, spring-like colors.
Kaori Masuko
Joined Mitsukoshi Isetan in 2008. After being assigned to the Armani Collezioni business clothing section on the 4th floor of the Isetan Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , he became a store stylist for men's tailored clothing on the 5th floor of the same Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building in 2019.

Masuko: My interpretation of "dressing stylishly" is "wearing bright and beautiful spring colors to feel positive and thoroughly enjoy fashion." This season's dress styles are meant to be the most accessible way to change your mood, especially in these times, and I want our customers to fully enjoy fashion.

Masuko: Among all the men's fashion choices, the key points for a "good impression" are that the clothes fit well, are clean, and subtly incorporate trends. And if you dress in a way that suits your own character, your impression will improve even more. I think the quickest way to achieve this is to wear "colors that suit you." By knowing the colors that enhance your impression and incorporating them into your outfits, you will gain confidence and be able to enjoy fashion even more. I am a certified personal color analyst, so I can also suggest colors that suit you. I hope you will enjoy fresh color combinations in the new season!

Next, Kyoko Kawada, who, like Masuko, is dressed in a La Scala bespoke suit, says that the key to this spring's style is to create a sophisticated and chic look while still conveying the glamour of this season's theme, "Stylish and Chic." Her well-balanced suit, made with spring/summer fabrics, has been well-received by customers.

Kyoko Kawada
Joined Mitsukoshi Isetan in 2010. After being assigned to the underwear department on the first basement floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building she became a store stylist for men's tailored clothing in 2017.

Kawada: The key to dressing in a way that makes a good impression is knowing what suits you, including the colors and shapes that suit you, and dressing accordingly. On the 5th floor, we have customers who say they want to change their image, and when we talk to them, we often find that the reason is that they usually choose and buy their own clothes, so their look tends to be repetitive. When we recommend colors and items that offer a different perspective to such customers, they are happy because it broadens their range of coordination. For men, even with the same item, the "way it looks" changes depending on the occasion and their profession, so we make sure to understand the customer's preferences and the time, place, and occasion, and give them as much advice as possible.

Kawada: Lately, I've been featured on the Men's Tailored Clothing Instagram, and I'm happy to see an increase in customers who purchase the shirt and tie combinations I recommend, or who come to the store saying, "I came after seeing it on Instagram." I know the world is changing rapidly and everyone is going through a difficult time, but even so, I would be very happy if people would stop by the store to say, "I came to see Kawada-san," while they're at Isetan. Especially during these times, I hope you can enjoy discovering stylish spring and summer fashion!

Now, let's introduce some outfits that the two of us recommend.

1. The keyword for Kaori Masuko's chosen spring outfit is "Adult Elegant Casual."

A suit style that looks great on anyone, at any age.

"Elekaji" refers to elegant casual wear, and for his spring business style, Masuko chose LARDINI 's "EASY WEAR" series, a leading example of packable suits. It's the ultimate suit for both on and off-duty occasions, symbolizing the casualization and comfort of business attire.

Masuko: What's great about LARDINI 's packable suit is that it looks sharp at first glance, but when you wear it it's light and comfortable, stretchy, wrinkle-resistant, and you can wear it with a tie for formal occasions, or simply pair it with a T-shirt like in this outfit for casual occasions. You can enjoy a wide range of styles, from dressy to sporty. It's very popular with young people, but even middle-aged men can wear it and project a clean, urban image with this relaxed suit.

[Weekend Style]
Enjoy a spring-like date outfit with these three items.

The Orbium Atelier Jacket has a relaxed, boxy fit with no drop-zero tapering, but the crisp fabric makes it easy to create an elegant impression by standing up the collar. The crew neck knit is a bright pink, perfect for spring, while the classic AMBROSI trousers are paired with a calm, neutral color.

Masuko: While each item is simple in design, the high-quality fabrics and impeccable tailoring create a subtly elegant look that isn't overly casual. I enjoyed mixing brands and layered these three items in a refined way, perfect for spring. I recommend black loafers for the shoes.

2. Kyoko Kawada's "monochrome and simple" outfits that she wants men to wear.

The bright gray gradient tones are perfect for spring and summer.

Fumagari Necktie ¥22,000 □ Isetan Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 5th Floor, Men's Tailored Clothing / Mitsukoshi Isetan Online Store

Kawada's recommended style is a tone-on-tone layered look using similar colors, with a simple gray-toned coat by Ivo, an Ernesto suit, and a shantung tie for a playful touch.

Kawada: Ernesto's suit, made from sharkskin fabric, is a piece that symbolizes the brand's new image, and the jacket in particular, with its patch and flap pockets, can also be worn as a standalone jacket. If you want to enjoy this jacket as part of a jacket and trousers combination, the trousers would typically be beige or navy, but this season I recommend spring-like greens or light brown trousers that pick up the color of your tie. When it comes to men's monochrome outfits, people tend to stick to single colors like black, white, or gray, but I encourage you to try layering and gradation like this.

[Weekend Style]
Make a leather blouson the centerpiece of your weekend outfit for a chic look.

Even those who love EMMETI 's black pieces will want this dark brown leather blouson, which is almost black. It has a slightly more urban feel than black, while the gold zipper adds an elegant touch.

Kawada: EMMETI leather blouson has a strong presence, so I chose a skipper polo shirt for the inner layer to give a clean look around the neck. It would also look nice with a neckerchief, but I'm going for a simple look. For the pants, I paired it with white denim that I "want to see men wearing." They are nice tapered jeans. For shoes, loafers with bare feet or plain white leather sneakers would both work. Go out on a date in this outfit.
