The "monochrome" fashion trend continues. From the men's shoes section on the first basement floor of the Isetan Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , we introduce 10 recommended monochrome sneakers for this season. Following five themes such as sporty, daily, and luxury, female staff members Ogura (white team) and Watanabe (black team) Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building will compete in a color battle!

WHITE ▶ <CONVERSE> "CANVAS ALL STAR J HI"

From Converse comes a MADE IN JAPAN high-top model of the "Canvas All Star," a well-known classic sneaker. Its timeless design makes it a must-have.

Ogura: Converse high-tops are popular with people of all ages, aren't they? I love them so much that I wear them out and buy new ones repeatedly, and they're one of the essential items when I'm thinking about my daily outfits. At this time of year, if you pair them with a corduroy suit, you can create a relaxed look from your feet without looking too formal! It's an outfit I'd definitely like you to try this autumn and winter.

BLACK ▶〈NEW BALANCE/New Balance〉"M1500 BK"

"M1500" = M stands for MEN, and 1500 represents the model number. The 1000 series is characterized by its voluminous silhouette, and among them, the 1500 is a popular high-end model featuring a leather upper.

Watanabe: These sneakers are popular with a wide range of generations, from students to adults! The design is simple and the colors are a basic monochrome, so they seem to go well with any fashion style. I'd recommend wearing them with denim, a classic combination! Pair them with slightly wide-leg jeans and a loose-fitting knit top for a completely casual look. Adding a bucket hat or cap as an accessory would make it even more casual and cute!

This brand, launched in Spring/Summer 2016, is made in a factory that produced numerous military training shoes from the 1950s to the 1990s. The thick soles offer the functionality and comfort characteristic of military items.

Ogura: A sporty silhouette and a simple design...! These sneakers are not only easy to wear casually, but I would also recommend them to people who work in office casual environments. When you pair sneakers with a neat jacket and pants, your feet tend to look too casual and the overall impression can be unbalanced, but with these sporty sneakers, you don't have to worry about that. These sneakers are especially recommended for people who don't like to look too casual!

BLACK ▶〈diadora heritage〉

This black model was created through a collaboration between Diadora and Mitsukoshi Isetan. It is a Japan-only release from the brand's high-end line, Diadora Heritage.

Watanabe: With its slim, sharp silhouette and simple design, this is a versatile item that can be used for both slightly formal and casual occasions. But since we have it, why not try coordinating it with a neat set-up? I think it would look stylish to pair it with a cut-and-sew top underneath the jacket to avoid looking too formal, and add a scarf as an accessory!

Round 3 ▶ Japanese designer

A battle of high functionality and high design, created by Japanese designers.

WHITE ▶〈YOAK〉
From YORK, a Tokyo-based footwear brand whose concept is "sneakers that go well with shirts and jackets," comes an all-weather sneaker, a model exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku.

Ogura: "My first impression is that everything about them is cute—the color scheme, the drawstring, the platform sole!" They also look very comfortable to walk in, and I have a feeling they'll be a valuable addition to my wardrobe. Pairing them with beige pants and an oversized knit sweater creates a soft, unisex look that's perfect! At first glance, they might seem a bit quirky, but once you try them on, you'll find they're incredibly easy to coordinate—these sneakers are truly a masterpiece!

BLACK ▶〈Flower MOUNTAIN〉

From Flower Mountain comes a new, hybrid sneaker with a high-tech feel, featuring reflective elements and available exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku.


Watanabe: These are the bulkiest sneakers out of the five pairs we're featuring today! As someone who's short, sneakers with thick soles are a real lifesaver! Since they have such a voluminous design, I'd love to see them paired with street fashion. Try pairing them with an oversized hoodie and really wide-legged pants, and add a cap and some accessories for a classic street style look!

Round 4 ▶ Italian

A battle of sophisticated styles using Italian brands.

 

WHITE ▶ <PREMIATA> "206EA LUCY"

The "LUCY" sneaker model from Premiata is one of the signature models in the PREMIATA WHITE line. The "Ho" logo is a combination of the "T" from "PREMIATA" and the Union Jack.


Ogura: The shape itself is simple, but the design on the sole is striking and eye-catching! Some of you might think, "I could never wear something like that..." but if you line up the sneakers you own, aren't there a lot of similar colors and shapes? Of course, you can wear basic shapes, but just having one pair of sneakers that's different from your usual style can suddenly make your outfit look more sophisticated! Try it out with white, a color that's easy to try without looking too edgy!

BLACK ▶〈VOILE BLANCHE〉“LIAM POWER”

This Italian sneaker brand draws inspiration from yacht sailing to create its sneakers. This Isetan exclusive model features the brand logo on the shoelaces. It boasts a distinctly Italian silhouette and a comfortable, lightweight feel that minimizes fatigue.

Watanabe: That's a pretty sporty design! Since it's such a sporty design, I think it would look cute if you paired it with pants that also have a sporty feel. Choose track pants made of jersey material that aren't too skinny, and for the top, since the bottoms and shoes are sporty, go for a T-shirt and cardigan to make it more casual. Going all sporty can look a bit over the top, so adjusting with the top will create a cohesive and stylish look!

Round 5 ▶ Luxury

A sophisticated design showdown befitting luxury brands.

WHITE ▶〈GOLDEN GOOSE〉
Golden Goose is an iconic brand known for its sneakers with a vintage finish that gives them a worn-in look. Their appeal lies in the comfortable fit achieved through high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship, the warmth of handcrafted details, and the unique vintage-like texture of each individual pair.


Ogura: When it comes to luxury sneakers, Golden Goose is the name that comes to mind, right? It's a brand I admire too. I'd like you to enjoy a thoroughly casual look by pairing them with workwear-inspired items like overalls. By making the most of the vintage-like texture and balancing it with accessories and other items, even those who are a little hesitant about workwear-inspired styles might find it easier to try!
