The theme for Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist.'s Fall/Winter 2020 collection is "11:11". This "11:11" signifies a world without a time axis, neither a beginning nor an end. In the collection, through collaboration with artist Takanori Ichikawa, known for his "incense paintings®", the collection expresses the fluctuating emotions of being caught between oneself and something other than oneself through clothing.

PROFILE

Kosuke Ichikawa

From the age of 13, he wandered and traveled through various countries, including America and Europe, changing his field of expression to music, film, architecture, and more, encountering various geniuses in each field and broadening the scope of his activities and expression. He began to take up painting on his own from the age of 16.

Using the faint flame of incense sticks to tear paper and create paintings using only the shades of burnt color, his works have been described as "incense paintings® that have dramatically shifted contemporary painting in a completely different direction," and are attracting attention as a new form of contemporary art for the next generation.

He has established his own unique painting style and continues his creative activities with various series, including the Scorch Paintings series (Incense Paintings®), in which he uses over 60 types of incense sticks, varying in temperature and thickness, to create drawings by gradually burning the paper without any preliminary sketches; the Scrape Works series and Scratch Works series, in which he creates drawings by scraping away multiple layers of color.
