[Feature | Video] Custom-made shoes and functional suits born from WH's vision of a new business style

WH/Double H supervised collaboration between stylish shoes and functional suits.
WH/Double H, a shoe brand created by fashion director Yoshimasa Hoshiba and shoe designer Hiroshi Tsubouchi, is releasing new shoes, along with a collaborative suit set-up with Finjack, which was supervised by the same brand. Both items will be available in a single black color suitable for business casual styles.
1. The Double H is a hybrid shoe with a new last.

The upper is now made of "ILCEA calfskin," enhancing its elegance.
Yoshimasa Hoshiba (hereinafter, Hoshiba): I'd like to ask Mr. Tabata, the men's shoe buyer, what kind of leather shoes are selling well at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building right now?
Tomoyasu Tabata (hereinafter, Tabata): Not only the design, but also functionality such as ease of walking and versatility that allows them to be used both on and off duty are important points, and Spanish brands like Berwick are attracting attention.

Hoshiba : Businessmen in the city are expected to "walk a lot and play a lot," so comfort and lightness are essential requirements. Now, let's have Hiroshi Tsubouchi introduce the key features of the new plain-toe shoes.
Hiroshi Tsubouchi (hereinafter, Tsubouchi) : For the new model, we have developed a completely new last (shoe mold). At Double H, we have always designed lasts that prioritize comfort, but this time the structure is "even closer to the human foot."

What structure is closer to the feet of Hoshiba ?
Tsubouchi 's feet have a very complex shape, including being asymmetrical. His new shoe last incorporates a shape that closely resembles a human foot.
Hoshiba : I see. So it's a last that takes ergonomics into consideration.
In addition to a new design that puts less strain on the feet , the rounded toe gives it an American feel. I think it's one of the most casual shoes in the WH lineup.
How are the soles and edge thickness on the Hoshiba shoes?
The sole and edge thickness are the "Hoshiba Special" from Double H, with the sole being 3mm thicker and the edge protruding 3mm more than usual, giving it a casual look.

Hoshiba: "It's a hybrid model that looks like a high-end leather shoe but feels like a sneaker." Are there any other details that Mr. Tsubouchi is particular about?
Pay attention to the upward curve of the toe, which will make walking easier than with Tsubouchi shoes .
The Hoshiba colorway is black from the lining to the edges and sole, giving it a more chic look. Mr. Tabata, have you tried the new model yet?

Tabata : Yes, I tried them on, and I found them more comfortable to walk in compared to previous models. Usually, shoes hurt when the raised part at the base of my index toe rubs against the shoe, but this design takes that into account, and I can wear them without any stress. These are shoes that really make a difference when you walk.
Compared to the early "Cruise" last from Hoshiba Double H, the design from the instep to the toe is different.
Compared to existing Tsubouchi products, the way the outer wingtip is cut is also different.

A distinctive feature of Tabata 's new shoes is that the upper is made of calfskin from Ilcea, rather than the usual Annonay leather.
The leather on the Hoshiba Ilcea shoes is a bit more supple. Are the insoles different too?
Incorporating the functionality of Tsubouchi NASA, the insoles use functional materials that provide comfort in hot weather and warmth in cold weather.
Since there are few dress shoes with cup insoles from Tabata , you can continue to enjoy the "sneaker-like comfort" that is a key selling point of Double H.

Tsubouchi: That's been the concept for Double H from the very beginning.
Looking back, it's been 5 years since Double H debuted.
We've been carrying Tabata 's first model at Isetan Men's, and his fan base has been steadily growing, so this new release is something everyone has been waiting for.
Hoshiba : Also, be careful with the sizing of the new items.
Tabata : Yes, please note that the new product is slightly smaller than the regular Double H.

Hoshiba : I always wear a size 9...
Tabata: In that case, please order the new item in "size 10".
Tsubouchi: This will be one size larger than your usual model.
Tabata 's new shoes are priced at 57,200 yen (tax included) and are available in all sizes from 7 to 10, with only 50 pairs available exclusively at Isetan Online.

2. Finjack's functional suit to wear with WH shoes

It feels like a shirt when you hold it, but when you wear it, it creates a well-defined silhouette.
In the Hoshiba segment , we'll be joined by Kotaro Shindo, representative of Spirale, Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building Store. Mr. Inaba, what kinds of suits and jackets are popular on the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building ?
Inaba : Versatility is important because it can be worn in a variety of ways, regardless of whether it's for work or leisure. Of course, functionality such as lightness, wrinkle resistance, stretch, and water repellency are also important points.

Mr. Shindo, could you please explain the origin of the Finjack brand name?
Shindo Finjack is a coined word derived from two phrases: Fine Jacket and Finta Giacca, which means "something like a jacket." It means "something that looks like a jacket, but isn't a jacket."
Inaba Finjack debuted last fall/winter and is available at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 5th floor, Men's Tailored Clothing.
Shindo: The suit I'm introducing today is from our first spring/summer collection, and it's being shown in Japan for the first time.
What are Hoshiba's selling points?
This is a black set-up from Shindo , made of polyester. It has a casual finish so that wrinkles are not noticeable when worn.

The material is incredibly soft. What's that attached to the lapel?
I've included a mini screwdriver used for the screws on Shindo eyeglasses. I wanted one for myself, and I thought it would make a practical and iconic symbol.

Hoshiba, that's an interesting idea.
Inaba fabric is polyester, but it lacks the typical sheen of polyester and has a cotton-like texture, making it suitable for business settings.
The Shindo jacket is as light as a shirt and contains almost no so-called auxiliary materials, yet it takes on the shape of a proper jacket when worn. The sleeves have no cuffs or buttons, so you can roll them up to add some style when it's hot. The trousers have a single pleat and are designed with extra room in the thighs for a relaxed feel.

This Hoshiba set-up suit looks like it would be very useful. I'll try on the jacket.
The Shinto material is stretchy and has good recovery properties. It can be used not only for work, but also in places like golf clubhouses and restaurants.
Hoshiba is really surprisingly light.

It feels similar to wearing a Shindo shirt. The body isn't tailored, but it creates a nice, streamlined shape when worn. Since it's black polyester, it's perfect for travel or business trips.
Both the Inaba jacket and pants have good lateral stretch, so they offer a wide range of motion.

The inner layers of the Hoshiba jacket seem versatile enough to be worn with anything from T-shirts and polo shirts to suits, making it suitable for a variety of occasions. It would be a great fit for the Japanese lifestyle as we head into summer.
You can create a polished look with a white shirt and black knit tie, or a more fashionable look with a black polo shirt. It also pairs well with white or navy knit t-shirts.

Hoshiba 's combination of navy and black is very modern.
Shindo: I simply wanted to create something that didn't exist anywhere else in the world, and Italian-made products offer "just the right balance" to create a casual atmosphere. Of course, the shoes are by WR, and I think they go well with WR's concept of "a mix of comfort and tradition."

The Inaba price is 99,000 yen (tax included), and it comes in four sizes (44-50). We offer free hemming of the pants if you visit our store, so please feel free to contact us.
