A sartorial house carrying on the legacy of a prestigious brand makes its debut at Isetan Men's Building.

SARTORIA CARACCIOLO is located in Caserta, about an hour north of Naples. This town is home to the Royal Palace of Caserta, said to be the largest in 18th-century Europe, built at the command of King Charles VII of Naples, who said, "Build a royal palace that surpasses the Palace of Versailles." In addition to this palace, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Caserta is also famous for its Paragrello wine, one of the oldest grape varieties in Italy. Furthermore, it is renowned as a producer of food, including buffalo mozzarella cheese and Caserta black pork.

The workshop is run by Nicola Giordano and Alessandro Di Mico. The two are cousins and have experience working in well-known Neapolitan tailoring workshops such as Cesare Attolini. They inherited their grandfather's workshop and moved to the city of Caserta, but they named the workshop Caracciolo, a name derived from their grandfather's tailoring workshop.

Caracciolo is the name of a waterfront street in Naples. If you take a walk from Santa Lucia, where Castel dell'Ovo is located, along Via Partenope towards Posillipo, with the sea on your left and the Civic Park on your right, you will eventually reach Via Caracciolo. It was on this street that my grandfather Alfredo's tailor shop was once located. Facing a beach bustling with Neapolitans, this street, now a complete tourist spot, was once lined with tailors.

They don't own any state-of-the-art machinery; all cutting is done by hand with scissors. Because the garments are made using only an iron, needle, and thread, the workshop, where you can hear the quiet attentiveness of the craftsmen, employs about 20 artisans. Among them is a skilled craftsman over 70 years old who has worked as a seamstress at Kiton for over 50 years. The patterns were newly created for the ISETAN MEN'S store. They commissioned models that fit the Japanese physique, paying particular attention to the fit around the shoulders and waist.

The ready-to-wear garments made here have a delicate and refined appearance, thanks to the tailor's experience at high-end tailors. The meticulous work almost looks like it was machine-made, but the numerous details that clearly showcase Neapolitan tailoring and the soft stitching reveal that it is indeed handcrafted. They confided to me that they use the same materials as those used by that high-end tailor. This spring marks their debut at ISETAN MEN'S .
