Pitti Uomo embodied the essence of luxury.

"Colony Clothing" Creative Director

Until this summer, she was a buyer for BEAMS' original label "Brilla per I'll gusto." Starting this fall, she will be the creative director of the Singaporean select shop COLONY CLOTHING. She is one of Japan's leading influencers, with over 80,000 followers on Instagram. She has just decided to move abroad.

"During my time at Beams, Pitti Uomo, which was held twice a year, was like a battlefield. I would walk around the venue from corner to corner until my legs ached. It was impossible to see everything during the event. After it closed, I would visit suppliers in various locations to delve even deeper into the collections. That's how I searched for clothes that would fit within the Beams framework."

Starting this fall, I will be taking on the role of Creative Director at COLONY CLOTHING, a select shop in Singapore. Singapore is one of the world's leading financial centers (*ranked 4th in the 2019 Global Financial Centres Index; Tokyo was 6th), and with the government actively promoting the attraction of foreign companies, it is a hub city in Asia where business people from all over the world gather. Despite being a city with many wealthy people, the supply of luxury clothing is not keeping up with demand. I saw potential in that.

COLONY CLOTHING's themes revolve around two main themes: "jet set" and "luxury resort." From now on, I think I'll be going to Pitti Uomo to find clothes that suit the lifestyles of people with these themes. Clothes that feel high-quality rather than just following trends. Clothes that evoke a lifestyle and are suited to different situations.

Since the office is filled with international people, a suit is a must. If you're traveling for business, you'll also need clothes that are comfortable for the flight. If you're on vacation, you'll be going to a resort hotel or villa, so you'll need a linen shirt to wear to a seaside restaurant, a tailored jacket for an evening party, and beachwear to relax by the pool.

Singapore is a tropical paradise, but the wealthy have bases all over the world, so they need a variety of clothing to wear wherever they go. From now on, buying will likely focus on selecting items on a case-by-case basis, rather than being tied to specific brands. I think the price range will also broaden considerably. We will draw on the knowledge and network we have accumulated to find items suitable for various situations.

Pitti Uomo brings together world-renowned and influential luxury brands. There are also many more luxurious fashion houses and high-end items that are not yet well-known in Japan. You'll find plenty of luxurious clothing suitable for the daily lives of business executives, jet-setters, and other executives who gather in Singapore, but the essence of luxury isn't simply about high prices. What's most important is the use of high-quality materials, superior craftsmanship, and how it connects to a lifestyle.

The Italians coming to Japan for PITTI IMAGINE UOMO @ ISETAN MEN'S are people who have provided wardrobes to those who appreciate such a luxurious lifestyle, and at the same time, they themselves are incredibly wealthy, far beyond what is imaginable in Japan. If you visit the ateliers and factories they run, you'll find several Ferraris lined up, be greeted with a full-course meal that doesn't feel like lunch at all, and on holidays they might even take you to Capri Island on their private cruiser. Isetan is hosting an event where you can meet such people. It will surely be a valuable opportunity to experience real global luxury.
