Touch, talk, and try. A pop-up store where you can "feel" things.
—What were your reasons for moving your base of operations to Paris?
This also relates to being true to myself, but I've always valued the culture of the "periphery." The first shop I worked at in this industry was located a little away from the mainstream in Fukuoka. My current shop is also based in Nakameguro, not Shibuya. This area is very laid-back and comfortable (the interview was conducted at the Nakameguro store). But you can still feel the urban atmosphere.

I live in the Marais district of Paris, which I personally think is very similar to Daikanyama or Nakameguro in Tokyo. One of the reasons I chose this area is simply because I love it.
Another thing that attracted me was the history of Paris. When you try to do something new, you need to learn from history. Minotaur Inst has many European customers, so that might be another reason.
--This pop-up will feature the newly launched Fall/Winter collection, the aforementioned collaboration items, and the GYM line collection.

This line started with the idea of rethinking the city as a sports gym. A few years ago, I worked on the direction of workwear for a major electronics manufacturer, which led to a relationship with Toray, a textile manufacturer that produces products to world standards. Using fabrics that can withstand serious sports and high-quality sewing techniques, we aimed to create truly "usable" clothing. We have a range of items that you can sprint in, wash when you sweat, and use roughly.
—What aspects of the main collection are particularly noteworthy?

This year's autumn/winter collection aims to make functional clothing look more urban and fashionable. While improving the basics such as stretchability, temperature regulation, and tailoring that takes running into consideration, we hope to dispel the image of heavy colors that are often associated with functional clothing. You could say that the fabric is the main focus, and we would like you to pay attention to items that express vivid colors while incorporating graphical patterns and functionality.
──Finally, to reiterate, what kind of pop-up shop can we expect it to be?
These days, buying clothes online is commonplace, but I want to recapture the joy of going to a physical store. I hope people will enjoy the fun of chatting with the staff, asking questions like, "What kind of clothes are these?" and "What brand are they?" I also want them to experience the various functions of clothing by actually trying them on and touching them. We've also shot a special video for this pop-up. I think this pop-up will evoke the same excitement you felt when you first stepped into your local select shop. I would be happy if we could convey the charm of Minotaur Inst, including its worldview.
