A commemorative portrait
Salon de Shimaji displays four portraits painted by artist Yuki Onuma, who is an officially recognized portrait painter of Katsuhiko Shimaji.

Shimaji : "I think the culture of portraiture is still almost non-existent in Japan. I've had the opportunity to interview European celebrities, and I was often invited to their homes. When I did, I would see portraits of the head of the household displayed. It was different from photographs, and I thought it was a wonderful cultural practice."

I suggested to Mr. Onuma that we paint a portrait to convey that culture. Lately, he's been commissioned to paint family portraits and commemorate the founding of companies. He's also been commissioned by people who are starting businesses in new fields."
Why not commission a portrait instead of a photograph to commemorate a special occasion? It might deepen your memories even further.
Portrait commissions, including framing, are available for ¥216,000 (tax included).

Shimaji: "Learning about unfamiliar cultures opens up a whole new world for you. This is a great opportunity for you to learn about the culture of portraiture."
