From adidas by RAF SIMONS, the footwear line resulting from a collaboration between adidas and RAF SIMONS, comes the "RS Stan Smith," which recreates iconic adidas archives using the trompe l'oeil painting technique. It will be available from April 12th (Friday) at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 2nd floor (Men's Creators) and 6th floor (Men's Contemporary).

Five styles selected by Raf Simons

The "RS Stan Smith" is a new footwear arrangement inspired by the painting technique of "trompe-l'oeil," skillfully layering past, present, and future elements onto iconic pieces from the adidas archives—a technique never seen before.

Designer Raf Simons selected five styles from the adidas archives: "Micropacer" (1984-88), "LA Trainer" (1979-80), "Torsion Conquest Super" (1990-92), "Samba" (1962-67), and "Peachtree" (1985).


Raf photographed these five actual items and created 3D models of them. He then incorporated them into the "RS Stan Smith," the most essential style of the Adidas by Raf Simons collaboration.

The resulting footwear meticulously reproduces selected details such as the stains, excess glue, and overall wear characteristic of vintage shoes. For example, the technical running shoe "Micropacer" has been transformed into a tennis shoe similar to the "Stan Smith," making it a must-see to see how authentic elements from the past have been revived for the present.
