[Opening Report] BURBERRY | Riccardo Tisci's new Burberry debut collection is now on sale!

BURBERRY Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the first since Riccardo Tisci took over as Chief Creative Officer, was unveiled for the first time in Japan on Wednesday, February 27th, at a pop-up store that opened on the 1st floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .

Riccardo Tisci's creation of a new era for "Kingdom"

The Spring/Summer 2019 season saw a rapid succession of designer changes across major fashion houses. Among the biggest talking points was the retirement of Christopher Bailey, who had led BURBERRY for 17 years and continued to influence the entire fashion industry, and the appointment of Riccardo Tisci as the new Chief Creative Officer.

For the first theme of the reborn BURBERRY men's line, Tisci chose the keyword "Kingdom." It combines the authentic and sophisticated classic feel befitting a brand that symbolizes Britain with a punkish and avant-garde street style. While showing respect for Britain's "multifaceted" and "eclectic" nature, which encompasses contrasting styles and ideas, the collection brilliantly incorporates contemporary and authentic British culture.

BURBERRY is also famous as a treasure trove of iconic patterns and motifs. In this collection, the traditional "house check," commonly known as the Burberry check, has been transformed into a striped pattern called the "icon stripe," which shares the same color scheme. The brand logo has also been reborn in a solid and catchy way through a collaboration with legendary British graphic designer Peter Saville. Both are symbolic elements that demonstrate how the brand's legacy of over 160 years is being reinterpreted with Tisci's characteristic edginess and modernity.

Among the dazzling array of must-have items, one that deserves particular attention is the deer-print sweatshirt, available exclusively at Isetan Men's. There are also plenty of items at more accessible price points, such as wallets and iPhone cases boldly featuring the new "BURBERRY LONDON ENGLAND" logo, and caps with the "TB" (initials of founder Thomas Burberry) monogram embroidery, also designed by Savile.

And of course, the trench coat, another iconic piece, has also evolved into a powerful and elegant model through Tisci's interpretation. Each piece is a must-have, a star item for any trendy outfit.

The pop-up store will be open for two weeks, until Tuesday, March 12th. Why not be among the first to experience the new world of BURBERRY ?
