[Feature] The capabilities of Asics' next-generation dress shoes

Runwalk is steadily increasing its presence, having opened its long-awaited flagship store, ASICS Runwalking Ginza, this July. Buyer Takashi Fukuda, who has long considered Runwalk to be a leading contender for next-generation dress shoes, has decided to hold a pattern order event. For this first pattern order event, gray will be available exclusively at Isetan Men's, and green will be available exclusively at both Isetan Men's and ASICS Runwalking Ginza. This time, store manager Michihiro Ishizaka will act as a guide, revealing the appeal of the shoes.
Buyers experience 3D measurement!
The store boasts a luxurious design based on Fukuda Black. RUNWALK 's first standalone flagship store has a fitting presence for Ginza. I hear it's off to a great start.
Thanks to everyone's support, the Prestige line is already sold out, and of the leather sneakers, which come in a variety of colors, only white remains.
Fukuda: Today I came to experience the pattern order service that is driving this shop forward. The main attraction is the 3D foot shape measuring machine.
Ishizaka : Yes. Well, let's get started. First, I'll put a sticker on your foot. This is to check the height of the ball girth (the most important part of the shoe's structure, surrounding the base of the big toe and little toe) and the arch (the framework that acts as cushioning). Now, could you put your foot in?

(Fukuda's feet appear on the monitor in a few seconds)

Fukuda is incredibly fast. And it's truly 3D.
Ishizaka has operated and measured eight cameras. Ms. Fukuda's instep is not particularly high, and both her big toe valgus and heel angle are within the normal range. Her feet are generally slender, but we offer widths from 2E to 4E, so she can choose shoes that fit her feet.
Fukuda's extensive range of measurement points is truly impressive.
Attention to detail in leather, finish, and design is what determines its "look."

What is the lineup of upper materials available from Fukuda ?
We offer a variety of leathers, including Ishizaka Annonay's Box Calf (calfskin), Dupuy's Saddle Calf, Charles F. Stead's Superbuck (suede), and Himeji-made kip leather, a source of pride for Japan. The kip leather is appealing for its six color variations and the nuanced texture created by its hand-finishing.
The kip leather used for this Fukuda- exclusive color is finely textured. The quality of the leather itself is on par with that of overseas brands.

Ishizaka Design offers a range of styles including oxford straight-tip, oxford plain-toe, single monk strap, double monk strap, and buckle slip-ons. Medallions and perforations can also be added as options.
Fukuda: But even so, it has a very modern look. Of course, I understand the potential of the leather, but that's not all. The silhouette is outstanding. I think this round toe could be called a modern classic.
Ishizaka : Actually, we have a staff member with 17 years of experience in the European shoe industry. I think his knowledge is a great contribution.

Based on the measurement data, we proceeded to try them on.

Fukuda: It has a supple, resilient feel that wraps around the foot, yet it also feels stable. I feel like I can literally run in them.
The expertise accumulated at Ishizaka Sports Shoes is fully utilized. The OrthoLite insole, which has a proven track record in running shoes, is coated with a moisture-absorbing and releasing polymer on its surface, so it not only provides cushioning but also keeps the inside of the shoe comfortable. The GEL in the heel cushions the impact when landing, and the grid pattern based on a unique design structure provides excellent flexibility. These are just a few examples, and Asics business shoes are equipped with well over 10 technologies.
Fukuda: That's something only your company, with the ASICS Institute of Sport Science, whose research results have been highly acclaimed at academic conferences and elsewhere, could achieve. There's one more thing I noticed when I put them on. That is, they fit my feet so comfortably. It's like they were made to order.
Ishizaka: Our company has foot shape data from measuring the feet of over 1 million people in the past. We develop shoe lasts based on that data.
Fukuda: In recent years, the number of customers demanding functionality has truly increased. We were looking for a next-generation dress shoe that would satisfy even the most discerning customers. RUNWALK was the answer, and I was able to truly appreciate its excellence once again.
A new genre born from the initiative of Kihachiro Onitsuka
Fukuda: Could you tell us about the circumstances that led Asics to enter the business shoe market in the first place?
Ishizaka : It all started with the Montreal Olympics held in 1976.
My name is Fukuda .
The team that appeared at the Ishizaka Opening Ceremony was wearing blazers paired with sneakers, and upon seeing this, founder Kihachiro Onitsuka conceived the idea of "creating shoes that athletes challenging records can wear when they leave the competition area and travel or march in the opening ceremony wearing blazers!"
This story looks like it could rival Jun Fukuda's novel "Rikuo."
Ishizaka : Then, in 1983, Pedara was born, followed by the more dressy Warraji in 1986. RUNWALK was launched in 1994 as an evolved line of business shoes aimed at people in their 30s and 40s within the Warraji lineup.
It seems that Fukuda spent seven years completing the project. I appreciate this extremely cautious approach.

We are confident that Ishizaka Runwalk will overturn the conventional image of business shoes. We hope that as many people as possible will experience their comfort at our pattern order event.
