The Shoe Shine Caravan project, which will spotlight one skilled shoe shiner each month, both from Japan and abroad, will begin at the Men's Shoes section on the first basement floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . The first event will be held over two days, on November 24th (Saturday) and 25th (Sunday). The first guest will be John Chung, the winner of the 'World Shoe Shine Championship 2018' held in London, England in April of this year.

John Chong, the 26-year-old owner of Mason & Smith, Singapore's first shoe shine and repair shop, is a Singapore resident. He began his career as a shoe shiner in 2014 at the shoe shine bar of the luxury hotel Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The following year, in 2015, he met bespoke tailor Kevin Shear and opened Mason & Smith, a shop-in-shop, in a corner of Shear's store. Currently, the shop is very popular, handling approximately 3,000 pairs of shoes per year.

Having become the undisputed "world's best shoe shiner," his skills are renowned for their precise polishing techniques, guided by the motto "making every shoe more beautiful than new." His polishing style is characterized by a unique sensibility, extending not only to the toe but also from the heel counter towards the center of the outer longitudinal arch, creating a distinctive diagonal line.

This will be the first time that you can experience his "polishing" skills at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building making it a truly valuable opportunity. In the future, pop-up events will be held regularly on the same floor, utilizing the shoe care counter that was completed as part of the renovation of the high-end corner.
