adidas Originals has announced a collaboration with the TV anime "Dragon Ball Z," based on the original work by Akira Toriyama. Isetan Online Store will be selling two models as the first installment of the "ADIDAS ORIGINALS × DRAGONBALL" collaboration series on Saturday, September 29th: the "ZX 500 RM DB," inspired by Son Goku, and the "YUNG-1 DB," inspired by Frieza.


"ADIDAS ORIGINALS × DRAGONBALL" focuses on three representative storylines from the many stories in "Dragon Ball": the "Frieza Saga," the "Android/Cell Saga," and the "Majin Buu Saga." Seven heroes and villains from each storyline are represented by seven iconic adidas Originals sneaker models. The two models being released this time are the "ZX 500 RM DB," inspired by Son Goku, and the "YUNG-1 DB," inspired by Frieza.

The "ZX 500 RM DB" is based on the "ZX500" running shoes released in 1984, and uses suede and mesh materials. The three stripes and tongue are reminiscent of Goku's gi torn after a fierce battle, and the side of the toe is decorated with an embroidered Flying Nimbus and the kanji character "悟" on the heel. On the other hand, the "YUNG-1 DB" is based on the new sneaker "YUNG-1," and is an excellent finish that expresses the essence of Frieza by using white and purple as the main colors with pink as an accent color.

Furthermore, the series will sequentially release seven characters, starting with Son Goku and Frieza, followed by Son Gohan and Cell, Vegeta and Buu, and Shenron, the dragon who appears at key points and grants wishes. A highlight of the series is the way all seven types of shoe boxes come together to form a complete picture, just like in the movie.
