Cool Biz is now in its 14th year. Isetan Men's is rethinking the simplified Cool Biz and proposing a dressy style that cleverly incorporates "functional" materials as a "summer comfort style." "Cool Biz has established the understanding that 'no tie' is the norm, but if you mix a tie with casual work styles such as shirts and polo shirts, it will create rhythm and tempo in your workday," says Yamauchi, Assistant Buyer for Shirts and Ties on the 1st Floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .
This time, with the theme of summer comfort style, we'll focus on the "materials" of ties and pocket squares. If you think you've got what it takes, please challenge yourself starting with the advanced level!

"We've selected materials that are perfect for the V-zone of a comfortable summer style," says Yamauchi. "Denim shirts and knit ties have become staples in cool biz styles, but the variety of tie materials that can be paired with linen jackets and cotton suits is increasing year by year," he continues.

Yamauchi selected linen and gauze ties that convey a refreshing summery feel, as well as pocket squares with matching textures. Blue ties are standard, but khaki is also worth considering this season. While a white pocket square is a must, many imported brands offer ties and pocket squares with matching colors and patterns, so purchasing them as a pair creates a beautiful, unified V-zone.

"Enjoy your summer style by focusing on the 'materials' aspect of a total look consisting of a suit (jacket), shirt, tie, and pocket square," says Yamauchi.
