[Plain Knot] A must-knot to master! Basic knotting technique
Pay attention to creating a compact knot and the length of the wide end of the sword!
The "single knot" is one of the most basic and versatile ways to tie a necktie. It works regardless of the thickness of the tie fabric and can be used with various collar styles, from regular collars to cutaway collars.
When tying your tie, aim for a compact knot and a dimple. When making the knot, it's important to pull the wide end firmly downwards and tie it tightly without any looseness. After tying the tie, it's also important to adjust the length so that the tip of the wide end is at belt level. If the narrow end is longer than the wide end, you can tuck it into your trousers to hide it.
[Double Knot] When you want to add volume to your knot
Pay attention to the balance between the collar points of your shirt and the knot!
The "double knot" is the perfect knot for ties with thin fabric or interlining, or ties whose fabric has stretched out from repeated use, when you want to add volume to the knot.
The size of a tie knot varies depending on trends and how you style it, but a good rule of thumb to remember is the ratio of "shirt collar points : tie knot = 8:5". Using this ratio as a guide will help you create a neat and tidy look around your neck.
[Semi-Windsor Knot] A neat knot that makes a statement on your chest.
Pay attention to the position of the wide end of the tie, as well as the thickness of the tie fabric and the collar style!
For a knot that is more voluminous than a plain knot and creates a neat, symmetrical look that makes a subtle statement around the chest, we recommend the "semi-Windsor knot."
The key point is that when you finish tying the tie, the tip of the wide end should be at belt level. If you are concerned about the position of the tip when you finish tying it, you can tie it with a double knot. Alternatively, we recommend using a tie that is 148-150cm long.
When tying a tie with a semi-Windsor knot, the narrow end may become extremely short, so be careful when tying your tie.
