Shimaji's new style in 2018
He's changed from the small mustache style reminiscent of Leonard Foujita to a wild, unkempt beard.

Shimaji : "Starting in 2018, I want to refresh my look and go for a wilder style. Once my hair grows out a bit more, I'll ask my hairdresser, who always makes my hairstyle perfect, to give it a cool makeover. I liked the Leonard Foujita style too, but from this year onwards, I'm going for the 'New Shimaji' look."
Just the beard alone seems to have changed his image quite a bit, making him look even more dapper.

Shimaji: "A man's face is the work of his parents until he's 40, but from 40 onwards, it becomes his own work. I'm 77 this year, so it's long since become my own work. I want to make this work even better."
Mr. Shimaji is 77 years old, but his aggressive attitude of continuing to challenge himself with new styles is something we should all learn from. The bar counter truly is a "study desk for life"!
