—What's your favorite photo in this photobook, Mick?
It depends on my mood that day. My mood today? This photo is nice; David and Lou Reed both look young and beautiful. And this photo of him eating. I don't think anyone else has ever photographed him eating.
The photographs included in my 2002 photobook "MOONNAGE DAYDREAM" were originally prints or dupes, but this time, the master film has been digitally processed, creating a "remastered version." As a result, the details are crystal clear, and the expressions are so lively that it looks as if they were taken just yesterday. You can even clearly see the badge on the lapel of the jacket David is wearing.

—The photobook features many of your friends and women from that time, doesn't it?
There are many never-before-seen photos, including the banter between David and Mick Ronson (guitarist of the band Spiders from Mars at the time) during a live performance for a TV show, as well as Jeff Beck, Lou Reed, Mick Jagger, Bianca Jagger, and many others. Everyone looks so young!
The portraits were taken based on our spontaneous ideas and by exchanging suggestions: playing table tennis between recording sessions for the album "Pin Ups," relaxing backstage before live shows, shooting in budget hotels like the Holiday Inn, and capturing moments when David is goofing around while we're talking about "Rock 'n Roll Suicide."
