A historic " body shirt" designed by G. Inglese.

First, when I was looking for a design reminiscent of "the era when shirts were worn as underwear," I came across The Inglese, an Italian shirt workshop.

The long hem and button-fastening crotch design are reminiscent of the 1955 tailor shop opened in Puglia, Southern Italy, by the three brothers, including the father of the current president, Ange Inglese. This item, also known as a body shirt or a shirt with a crotch (thong), has the advantage of preventing the shirt from coming untucked at the back, staying in place even when moving, and maintaining a neat appearance even with formal attire.

While the buttons at the crotch have disappeared over time, the shape of the shirttail (hem) is a remnant of the time when shirts were worn as underwear. The double-layered fabric at the chest also retains the functionality from its time as an undergarment, and the large buttons are another distinctive feature.

The Inglese shirt: ¥43,200 (Sizes: 38-41cm)
