Leica | Releases the latest model in the "Leica M System," the "Leica MD (Type 262)."

Digital rangefinder camera without an LCD display
The Leica MD (Type 262) embodies a commitment to the "essence" of photography—"das Wesentliche"—and boasts a functional and clean form. It is a digital rangefinder camera that eliminates the rear LCD display that is always found on digital cameras.
Typically, the back of a camera body with an LCD display features an ISO sensitivity setting dial, an essential function for photography. However, the Leica MD (Type 262) intentionally eliminates all other functions, focusing only on the essential elements necessary for photography. It allows you to set only the bare minimum: shutter speed, aperture value, and ISO sensitivity. By thoroughly pursuing minimalism, it has become a camera that allows you to concentrate on the essence of "taking a photograph."

Note the top cover design with a stepped edge, similar to the "Leica M9".
The specifications of the "Leica MD (Type 262)" are based on the standard "Leica M (Type 262)" model, but the image sensor uses the same high-resolution 24-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor developed specifically for Leica rangefinder cameras as other current M-type digital cameras. The image processing engine is the high-speed "LEICA MAESTRO".
The camera uses only the DNG (RAW) format for image recording, allowing users to perform various digital processing steps after shooting using image processing software. However, it does not have video recording or live view functions.
