2016.02.29 update

Choose a style from a top-notch shirt workshop in Naples and have it tailored with Carlo Riva, the jewel of shirt fabrics.

We previously announced that we have started carrying ready-made shirts from Anna Matozzo, a renowned shirt workshop in Naples. Now, starting with the "Only MI" Spring Campaign on Wednesday, March 2nd, we will be launching "Pattern Order," which allows for an even better fit. This will be permanently available Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st Floor, in the Dress Shirts & Ties section. Buyer Takumi Sato recommends, "With the resurgence of suit styles, more and more customers are looking for shirts that fit properly. Please order your preferred style using the world's finest fabrics."

For shirt lovers, Anna Matuozzo is synonymous with Carlo Riva.

Carlo Riva, the first choice for high-end shirt manufacturers worldwide, has created an original "bunch book" (fabric sample book) for Isetan Men's this season. Buyer Sato, who was in charge of creating this groundbreaking bunch book, says, "Because Carlo Riva's fabric production is very limited, it's no exaggeration to say that this original bunch book covers almost all of their current stock."

"What makes Carlo Riva fabrics special is that they are woven slowly and carefully on old shuttle looms, the same kind used to weave ties. As far as I know, Carlo Riva is the only company that does this. Furthermore, they maintain a humidity level of 80% from the yarn stage to the storage of the woven fabrics. This kind of thorough quality control is what produces delicate, jewel-like fabrics."

Furthermore, "This swatch book offers a wide variety of fabrics, including poplin, twill, voile, and cotton linen. Personally, I recommend cotton linen, as it is the world's finest material, combining delicate texture with just the right amount of firmness and body. Please enjoy having your garment tailored by Anna Matozzo using Carlo Riva fabrics."

Carlo Riva x Naples' finest shirt workshop collaboration comes to fruition.

What makes Isetan Men's permanent "Pattern Order" service groundbreaking is that you can choose your preferred style from exquisite Neapolitan workshops such as Anna Matozzo, AVINO, LUIGI BORRELLI , and FRANCESCO MEROLLA, and order it in Carlo Riva fabric. "Normally, we only accept fabrics specified by the manufacturer," says buyer Sato. With Pattern Order, you first try on ready-made garments to determine the body. Then, you can make fine adjustments to the size, such as the neck circumference, cuff circumference, and sleeve length, and you can also choose to have your initials added, and select the collar and cuff styles.

"Avino is a brand that originated from suit tailors. It is renowned for its three-dimensional pattern making, and its collars are exceptionally beautiful with their three-dimensional structure. Orders are made using an 8-point (process) hand-finishing method. Luigi Borrelli is, as you know, one of the world's best shirt brands. It brilliantly blends industrial elements with handmade craftsmanship, and you can choose between an 8-point hand-finish and a 6-point hand-finish. Francesco Merola is characterized by its 3-point hand-finishing method for the collar, sleeves, and buttons. The collar, a crucial point for comfort, is finished by hand. Carlo Riva's pattern order service is available at a wide range of prices, from 60,000 to 100,000 yen, depending on the brand. Delivery takes approximately 4 months from the time of order."

Shirts are all about the fit. If you're looking for the perfect fit, you'll end up with custom-made.

Buyer Sato says, "The popularity of the suit and shirt order corner at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building is growing, and I feel that the comfort of a perfect fit is taking root among our customers. In line with this era of 'empathy for things we feel attached to,' we encourage you to create your own unique style with your favorite materials and brands."

Enjoy the exquisite comfort of a custom-made shirt, a magnificent collaboration between Neapolitan brands, each with its own distinctive characteristics, and the world's finest fabrics that offer a luxurious, silk-like texture—a culmination of the pinnacle of classic style.
