From January 8th (Friday), Yohji Yamamoto 's Spring/Summer 2016 collection will be available at the International Creators section on the 2nd floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . With "vertical stripes" as the keyword, this season explores the art of cutting and darts, expressing strength and beauty through vertical lines running across the body by varying the width of the stripes and the materials of the fabrics used. The "vertical stripes," expressed through advanced pattern-making techniques, are not only stylish but also highly functional.


These items, featuring layered, richly colored acrylic abstract prints, are a collaboration with artist Yuka Asakura. From items printed with a skull drawing modeled after Yohji Yamamoto, the collection expresses a new form of projecting two-dimensional artwork onto clothing.
Furthermore, the tailored suits, inspired by the style of James Bond in the '007' film series, feature a sharp, stoic silhouette, but the use of wrinkled fabric creates a light and natural form. This proposes a new style for Yohji Yamamoto that has never been seen before.
