Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 2nd Floor = International Creators is hosting a limited-time pop-up shop featuring Public School, the winner of the top prize at the 2014/15 International Woolmark Prize (IWP) Menswear Finals, from Wednesday, October 28th to Tuesday, November 10th.

Public School is a New York-based menswear brand founded in 2008 by Dao Yi Chou and Maxwell Osborne, both born and raised in New York. Their collections, which blend fashion, music, and art, are heavily influenced by contemporary and sophisticated culture, and they are hailed as leading designers of the new generation in America.


The brand's collection theme, unveiled at IWP, was "LOST CIVILIZATION." It depicted the process from ancient times, when merino wool was the only fiber in the world, to its eventual disappearance, through its unique worldview. Incorporating various techniques such as needle punching and circular knitting, the collection tells the story of tribes that coexisted with merino wool and survived, resembling the latest in luxury streetwear. It received high praise from judges such as Paul Smith for bringing the concept to life at a high level.

This pop-up shop will be exclusively available at Isetan Men's in Japan. On Sunday, November 1st, during the event, Dao Yi Chou and Maxwell Osborne will be visiting the store and will perform a DJ set centered on hip-hop, which is also a source of inspiration for their creations, and will also be assisting with sales (scheduled for 30-45 minutes starting at 2 PM).

The International Woolmark Prize, which began in 1953 and was relaunched in 2012, focuses on the natural beauty of merino wool, with top-class up-and-coming designers from around the world participating. The competition involves regional qualifiers held in six regions worldwide before reaching the final judging round to determine the winner. Past winners include Yves Saint Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld, making it a highly prestigious fashion competition.
