BOOT BLACK is an old English word meaning "shoeshine person."
It is said that in the past, leather shoes were only available as black boots, and this expression originated from the fact that polishing them made them appear blacker.
We had "Chomo-san" actually try out this shoe polish set, which bears the name "BOOT BLACK."

This set includes "High Shine Base," a wax specifically for high-shine (mirror-finish) toe and heel areas using beeswax that adheres closely to leather; "High Shine Coat," which gives leather shoes a mirror-like shine; and "Polish Cloth," which is essential for achieving a high shine. All products are made in Japan.


How glossy does it produce? We had someone actually use it to find out.



The easiest way to understand it is to first see the results after polishing.


The one in the back is before polishing, and the one in the front is after polishing with Boot Black High Shine.
Surprisingly, the difference was this significant.


The shoes I prepared this time are a product from Regal made with cowhide leather.
The image on the left shows the leather before finishing. You can clearly see the uneven texture caused by the fine pores in the leather.
In contrast, the toe area on the right is finished with Boot Black High Shine.
Compared to the photo above, can you see how the finer details have become smoother and the shine has increased?

Furthermore, while a mirror-like glossy finish would diminish the supple texture of the leather, what's amazing about Boot Black High Shine is that it maintains the fine texture of the surface while achieving just the right amount of shine.






The Boot Black series cream is relatively soft and spreads smoothly without much effort, making it very easy to apply.
Moreover, since it creates a beautiful shine with just a quick application and polish, the fact that maintenance can be done without spending much time is really convenient.

However, the truth is, as the shoes gradually become more beautiful, I couldn't help but want to polish them even more, and before I knew it, I had spent more than 30 minutes on just one shoe.
The Boot Black series, with its easy absorption and beautiful sheen, is an excellent product for maintaining your favorite shoes.

I also noticed that the bottle's exterior has some distinctive features.




Yes, the bottle cap and the front of the label are aligned.
Since labels are usually applied by machine, the orientation of the label on the bottle and the label on the cap almost never match.
However, after each bottle in the Boot Black series is sealed, the label is carefully applied by hand, one by one. As a result, the bottle and the label are perfectly aligned.
This cream was truly a testament to Japanese craftsmanship, paying attention to even the smallest details that you wouldn't notice unless someone pointed them out.
